The ex-girlfriend and mother of Titus Young’s son claimed the troubled ex-Lions receiver waited outside her home, threatened and harassed her while seeking a restraining order, according to the Press-Enterprise.

A Riverside County judge granted a temporary restraining order Wednesday, May 8 during an eight-day period in which Young was arrested four times. The order requires the NFL free agent to stay at least 100 yards away at all times from his ex-girlfriend, who is also the mother of his 8-month-old son, Titus Jr.

From the Press-Enterprise:

“He would say things like, ‘I understand why O.J. killed his wife.’ He says, ‘We’re always gonna be a family and I’m always going to be his,’” the restraining order request states. “He got mad and yelled at my neighbors and tried to fight multiple people that he doesn’t even know.

“Titus Young Sr. has been clinically diagnosed with a mental disorder and I am afraid of what he is capable of doing,” she wrote in the restraining order request. “He also has been in a mental help facility more than once and still believes that he does not have a problem.”

Young, 23, was drafted by the Lions in 2011 before being benched in November for detrimental conduct — including punching teammate Louis Delmas — and eventually released from the team at the end of last season. The Rams claimed Young, but released him after nine days.

His father claims Young suffers from a psychological disorder stemming from a concussion.

Ex-Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young faces up to more than seven years in prison if convicted on criminal complaints stemming from two separate incidents last week, reports NFL.com.

Young was arraigned via video conference on eight charges Tuesday, ranging from burglary to assaulting an officer. He pleaded not guilty and remains in custody. A pretrial hearing has been set for 8:30 a.m. Pacific time May 24 at the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach, according to the Detroit Free Press.

On May 4, Young entered a Chevron store and allegedly took a bottle of water and candy bars without paying and then returned to the store and took five cigars without paying. That is a second-degree felony burglary charge.

Young was arrested three times in one week, including twice in a 15-hour span on May 5, when he was first arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence by police in California.  Young was re-booked hours later for allegedly trying to steal his car from an impound lot after he was initially released.

Young was arrested again on May 10 in San Clemente, Calif., after police said he broke into a home. When officers arrived at the home, Young fled on foot and then fought with officers after a pursuit.

If convicted of all charges, Young, 23, faces seven years and six months in prison.

His relatives are still debating on whether to bail Young out or let him sit in jail, reports USA Today. Young’s bail, which had been set at $75,000, was reduced to $25,000 on Tuesday.

Ex-Lions wide receiver Titus Young was arrested Friday night for the third time in less than a week, according to The Detroit News‘ Josh Katzenstein.

Young allegedly broke into a home in San Clemente, Calif., before police arrived at 11:30 p.m. He then fled from police on foot and, after being pursued, fought with officers.

Young, a Los Angeles native, has been charged with burglary, assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest, according to the report. As of 1 p.m. Sunday he was in custody with bail set at $75,000.

He will be arraigned on Monday, according to the Detroit Free Press’ Dave Birkett:

From the Detroit News report, quoting Lt. Joe Balicki of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department:

“There was a brief struggle,” he said. “He wanted to fight with the deputies. They ended up subduing him.”

Neither Young nor the officers were injured in the struggle, Balicki said.

Young also was arrested twice in a span of less than 15 hours last Sunday in Moreno Valley, Calif. After police say he made an illegal left turn into oncoming traffic at 12:01 a.m., he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

At 2:22 p.m. the same day, Young was charged with burglary after he was seen jumping the fence of an impound lot to look for his black Ford Mustang, police said.

The Lions released Young, a second-round pick from Boise State in 2011, in February after numerous behavioral problems. He was claimed off waivers by the Rams and released 10 days later.

In his two NFL seasons, Young has caught 81 passes for 990 yards in 26 games.

  • Report: Rams to cut wide receiver Titus Young

The Rams will cut temperamental wide receiver Titus Young, according to sources in a report by The Shadow League’s Rob Parker.

ProFootballTalk.com reports the Rams have are declining to comment.

The Rams claimed Young after the Lions waived him on Feb. 5.

The Lions suspended Young twice during 2012 season, once for lining up in the wrong position in a November game against the Green Bay Packers and later for remaining a problem despite the second chance the team gave him. He also allegedly sucker-punched teammate Louis Delmas.

His release shortly followed Young’s uses of Twitter to dare the Lions to play him more or let him go.

The Titans have claimed Titus Young a day after the Lions released the disgruntled wide receiver.

The Lions suspended Young twice during 2012 season, once for lining up in the wrong position in a November game against the Green Bay Packers and later for remaining a problem despite the second chance the team gave him. He also allegedly sucker-punched teammate Louis Delmas.

Young recently used Twitter to dare the Lions to play him more or let him go.

Rookie Kendall Wright led the Titans with 64 receptions, but averaged just 9.8 yards per catch, leaving the team looking to add big-play receiving threats to provide more vertical targets for quarterback Jake Locker.

Temperamental Lions wide receiver Titus Young used Twitter earlier this week to let the world know that he would sooner retire than play another season in Detroit unless he becomes a bigger part of the team’s passing game.

Coach Jim Schwartz countered on Wednesday that any player going on Twitter to complain about his team was “a pretty good example of a bad idea” and that he still had “some ground to cover” with the player who has already sucker-punched teammates Louis Delmas last offseason and was sent home for intentionally lining up in the wrong formation against the Packers last season.

Young has upped the ante on Twitter Friday, telling the Lions he’s tired of the team’s threats to cut him.

Lions GM Martin Mayhew reportedly will make a decision on Young’s future with the team prior to the NFL Draft on April 25-27. The Lions receiver corps was hit by injuries last season, likely making a pass-catcher a top priority in the draft.

He had 33 receptions for 383 yards and four touchdowns in 2012.

  • Detroit Lions place wide receiver Titus Young on injured reserve

Days after Titus Young returned to the Lions following a nine-day suspension, the team placed the contentious wide receiver on injured reserve, according to team website reporter Tim Twentyman.

Young has caused the Lions numerous problems over the past year, beginning when he fought teammate Louis Delmas during offseason workouts. He reportedly caused trouble on the sideline during Detroit’s Nov. 18 loss to the Packers, after which coach Jim Schwartz sent him home and center Dominic Raiola ripped him in the press.

Young was listed as inactive for both of the team’s past two games, despite no injury being reported, as ProFootballTalk noted:

There’s no indication of what injury Young might have suffered, although he did have a knee issue earlier in the season. Even though he hasn’t used that knee in weeks, we can be sure that there’s absolutely no designation to return. It’s an odd move because the Lions told Young to stay away from the team two weeks ago after he allegedly lined up in the wrong place on purpose during a November 18th loss to the Packers.

The second-year receiver, a 2011 second round pick from Boise State, finishes the season with 33 receptions for 383 yards and four touchdowns.

Lions receiver Titus Young returned to practice for the Detroit Lions this week after his team-imposed suspension, but one of his teammates remains frustrated (to say the least) about the receiver’s actions that led to the absence.

Speaking to The Detroit News’ Chris McCosky, Lions center spoke out about Young’s petulant attitude, which included the receiver intentionally lining up in the wrong spot and verbally clashing with Lions receivers coach Shawn Jefferson in the teams’ Week 11 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Raiola’s comments, via McCosky’s Twitter feed:

Young has 33 receptions and four touchdown catches on the year, with an average of over 11 yards per catch.

Wide receiver Titus Young is back to practicing with the Lions, although for now he has been demoted to the second team offense. Young missed over a week of practice and one game for disciplinary reasons.

The day after the Lions lost to the Packers, coach Jim Schwartz sent Young home because he was negatively affecting practice. The head coach added that Young was putting himself above the team, so Schwartz suspended Young from practice for a week and listed him as inactive against the Texans on Thanksgiving.

Young had two penalties in the Lions’ loss to the Packers, a false start, an offensive pass interference, and caught only one of six passes thrown to him. The behavioral issues on and off the field, coupled with his struggling performance, contributed to his demotion to the second team offense.

Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz announced Monday that wide receiver Titus Young will not play in Thursday’s game against the Houston Texans because of a behavioral issue.

Young was sent home from the Lions’ team facility Monday after causing a scene on the sideline in Sunday’s 24-20 loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Young was benched for the team’s final three plays against the Packers and that caused a sideline argument between the team’s wide receivers coach Shawn Jefferson and offensive coordinator Scott Linehan.

Schwartz said Young’s behavior had been affecting the team, and that his status will be re-evaluated next week.

Schwartz says Young was putting himself above the team.

“It’s your job to make the team happy, it’s not the team’s job to make you happy,” Schwartz said.

Young, in his 2nd season, has 33 catches for 383 yards and four touchdowns this season.
