The NFL Network is planning to give television viewers a new goal-line angle.

NFL Network Senior V.P. of production and programming Mark Quenzel said via conference call:

“We’re playing around with a camera, believe it or not, that’s going to be in the pylon. I don’t know if we’re going to have it this week. We’re still working out some kinks on the pylons, that allow us to see goal line stands, those types of things, and we’re going to add a couple of cameras for isolating players.”

The pylon cameras may make their debut in the Chicago Bears-Green Bay Packers game on Thursday night.

Successful testing of the pylon camera could lead to the league’s replay officials gaining an additional angle for ruling on whether or not the ball crossed the goal line.

NFL.com and NFL Network reporter Steve Wyche is contradicting an ESPN report that the NFL “has made a settlement offer.”

Wyche reported a source said the lack of an offer at this time does not mean a reduced suspension might not be offered in the future.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the league had no comment on the report.

The NFL and Vilma are scheduled to appear before a U.S. District court judge on Friday to discuss settlement options.

Vilma was among four current and former Saints suspended by the NFL for the roles in the “bounty” programs that allegedly rewarded defensive players for injuring or knocking opponents out of games.

Forget Sunday mornings — NFL Network will be giving fans their daily dose of football news every weekday while they prepare for work.

In a league press release, the network said it will launch a four-hour weekday morning show on July 30. The show, titled “NFL AM,” will go from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., Monday through Friday.

The show will begin just as players report for training camp and promises to “blanket the world” with NFL news and debates.

Five panelists are slated to be on the show, including The New York Times‘ best-selling author Mark Kriegel. He’ll be joined by former Fox NFL sideline reporter Brian Webber, former Comcast SportsNet New England broadcaster Nicole Zaloumis, former San Francisco cornerback Eric Davis, and NFL Network’s own Steve Wyche.
