After missing all of practice on Wednesday and Thursday with a foot injury, Marshawn Lynch participated on a limited basis in practice on Friday. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Friday that Lynch looked fine and will definitely be playing on Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

Lynch showed no signs of injury during the Seahawks’ 24-14 win over the Redskins last week. It’s unclear when and how Lynch injured his foot. Despite missing two practices and having limited participation on Friday, Carroll made it clear that the running back will be in the game. If Lynch shows signs of slowing, it’ll mean more pressure on Wilson.

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch reportedly won’t receive a suspension or face any other possible discipline this season in the wake of his July DUI arrest, according to a report Sunday from CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora:

The NFL will wait for the legal case to be resolved — which is likely going to occur some time in 2013 — so Lynch is in the clear this season.

Given his checkered past and most recent DUI incident, Lynch is “a candidate for suspension,” according to La Canfora. In 2009, he was found guilty of a misdemeanor gun charge and was suspended for the first three games of the Buffalo Bills’ season.

But this is his only DUI charge, which is considered by the NFL to be a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy, so it’s likely that he will face the standard punishment of being docked two games worth of salary. He has already met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss this latest incident.

Lynch had a career-high 1,204 rushing yards last season, as well as 12 touchdowns. In March, he signed a four-year, $31 million extension with the Seahawks.

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was formally charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Wednesday. His arraignment is August 14.

Lynch was arrested Saturday morning in Oakland, Calif. on suspicion of driving under the influence. Lynch was weaving his car between lanes and nearly ran into surrounding traffic before he was arrested, according to a report released by the California Highway Patrol.

Lynch may be subject to some disciplinary action from the NFL as a repeat offender of the league’s personal conduct policy.  In 2008, he had his driver’s license revoked for failure to exercise due care toward a pedestrian after he hit a woman and kept driving. In 2009, he was suspended by the league for three games after he pled guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge.

Lynch, who signed a four-year, $31 million deal in March, ran for 1,204 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch was arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence, the San Jose Mercury News’ Daniel M. Jimenez reported Monday night. He was taken to the Santa Rita Jail, according to the report. From the report:

Lynch, 26, who plays for the Seattle Seahawks, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol in Oakland, according to Alameda County Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Raymond Kelly. He was taken to Santa Rita Jail, where he was cited and released.

Additional details on the circumstances of the arrest weren’t immediately available.

Lynch was in Oakland last week to award a scholarship to recent high school graduate through his Fam 1st Family Foundation.

This is not Lynch’s first brush with the law during his time in the NFL. In 2008 while with the Buffalo Bills, Lynch had his license revoked after he said he didn’t realize he had hit a woman with his car while driving in downtown Buffalo’s bar district at 3:30 a.m. In 2009, Lynch was arrested in Culver City, Calif., on felony charges for possession of a concealed weapon. He pleaded guilty and was suspended three games.

Lynch put up the best numbers of his six-year career with the Seahawks last season. He carried the ball 285 times for 1,204 yards (a 4.2 yards-per-carry average) and had 12 rushing touchdowns. He added one touchdown reception.

  • Marshawn Lynch Signs Multi-Year Contract With Seahawks

After weeks of negotiation, Marshawn Lynch has agreed to a multi-year contract to remain with the Seattle Seahawks, according to Seahawks.com.

Lynch, obtained in a trade with the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 5, 2010, was impressive in his first full season with the Seahawks in 2011. The 25-year-old running back posted career highs of 1,204 yards and 12 touchdowns, earning only $3 million for his efforts.

The financial specifics of this new deal are yet unknown, but Lynch is owed a huge raise for his efforts.

“We are excited to keep Marshawn as an important part of what we are building,” Seahawks GM John Schneider said. “This is what we were hoping for when we acquired him from Buffalo.”

By signing Lynch this weekend, the team avoids using its franchise tag on the young Pro Bowler. The Seahawks had indicated they were ready to tag Lynch if a deal wasn’t worked out by tomorrow’s deadline.

  • Report: Marshawn Lynch Will Remain With Seahawks Next Season

After a career year with the Seattle Seahawks in 2011, running back Marshawn Lynch is now guaranteed to remain in town for at least one more season. Seahawks GM John Schneider confirmed that the team will either re-sign Lynch or franchise him this spring.

“We’re having great discussions,” Schneider told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer today. “There’s no animosity at all. It’s good dialogue.”

Lynch rushed for career highs of 1,204 yards and 12 touchdowns last year in his first full season with the Seahawks, making just over $3 million. He’s due for a huge raise — if the Seahawks franchise him this spring, he will make nearly $8 million next season.

Lynch is far from the only free agent on the Seahawks’ to-do list this offseason — they’re also working on defensive end Red Bryant, linebacker David Hawthorne, fullback Michael Robinson, linebacker Leroy Hill and tight end John Carlson.

“Things are going well,” Schneider said. “There’s no panic. We want Red back. We want Marshawn back. If they decide to go somewhere else, that’s a bummer. But they know how we feel about them and they know we’ve been busting our tails trying to get them signed.”

Seattle Seahawks’ running back Marshawn Lynch was fined by the NFL for wearing Skittles-inspired cleats, according to the Seattle Times. He was reportedly fined $10,000.

The shoes, the Nike Vapor Talon Elite, were given to Lynch. He has shown an affinity to Skittles since high school, when his mother would give him the candy on the sidelines, according to the newspaper.

This was Lynch’s second violation of the league’s uniform policy. He was fined $5,000 earlier in the season for wearing green socks.

  • Skittles Thanks Marshawn Lynch For The Exposure With 24-Month Supply

Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch had an impressive game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, rushing for 148 yards and 2 memorable, tackle-breaking runs for touchdowns.  Equally memorable, though, was a sideline shot from the television broadcast showing the 215-pound back downing Skittles candy – a shot that has earned Lynch the gratitude of the candy’s maker, according to Darren Rovell of CNBC.

“Skittles is offering Marshawn Lynch a 24-month free supply & a customized dispenser for his locker for last night’s exposure,” Rovell tweeted Friday morning.

Lynch has celebrated with Skittles since his mother would reward him with the fruit-flavored pellets for touchdowns in high school; in the NFL, according to the New York Times, she reportedly just gives him a bag prior to each game.

  • Seahawks Tackle James Carpenter Has Torn ACL

    Decrease fontDecrease font
    Enlarge fontEnlarge font

Seattle Seahawks offensive tackle James Carpenter, who injured himself during Wednesday’s practice, reportedly has a torn ACL, according to a tweet from Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.

Carpenter was the team’s first round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, his timetable for return at this point is unclear.

The Seahawks, who are coming off of an upset victory over the 6-3 Baltimore Ravens, also recently lost starting right guard John Moffitt to season-ending surgery as the result of a torn PCL and MCL. This may serve as a devastating blow for Seattle whose offensive line had helped running back Marshawn Lynch run for over 100 yards over the past two consecutive weeks.

The Seahawks are currently 3-6 on the season, which ranks them second in the NFC West. They are slotted to face the 2-7 St. Louis Rams this weekend.
