Jeneba Tarmoh has pulled out of the 100-meter runoff with fellow U.S. sprinter Allyson Felix, SI’s Tim Layden reports.

Layden’s report from Sunday night said Tarmoh was leaning toward not racing against Felix, though she felt in her “heart of hearts” that she had earned the third and final spot on the women’s Olympic 100 team and felt “kind of robbed.”

The race was slated to be broadcast live by NBC at 8 p.m. Monday.

Felix claimed a spot in the Olympics in the 200 on Saturday. She won silver in the 200 in both Beijing and Athens.

The coach of Allyson Felix and Jeneba Tarmoh, the sprinters who tied for third in the women’s 100 meters at the U.S. track and field Olympic trials, told Gene Cherry of Reuters that he has asked that the runoff to determine the third and final qualifier for the London Olympics be delayed until at least Tuesday.

A USA Track and Field spokesperson said they cannot abide by Bob Kersee’s wishes, however, that the race must take place by Sunday to allow officials time to name the team.

Kersee said he submitted a request to USATF out of concern for the physical well-being of Felix and Tarmoh, who are both also trying to qualify in the 200 meters on Saturday. “I am trying to stay neutral,” Kersees aid. “But I can’t stay neutral when it comes down to the health of athletes.”

No word on when officials will announce the time of the runoff.

SI.com’s Tim Layden had an in-depth look at how officials called the finish a tie.
