The Texas Rangers came away from last night’s 5-2 win over the Cleveland Indians with injury concerns after two of their hottest hitters — Josh Hamilton and Adrian Beltre — were removed during the game due to varying degrees of soreness.

Gerry Fraley of The Dallas Morning News reports Hamilton will rest a sore left knee, but Beltre has talked his way into tonight’s lineup against the Indians.

Manager Ron Washington planned on resting Beltre, after an MRI test on found inflammation in the left shoulder but no sign of structural damage.

Beltre reported no pain after taking swings in the indoor batting cage and convinced Washington to let him DH tonight.

“It was sore last night, but it feels okay now,” Beltre said. “Why should I rest? I had some rest last night.”

Beltre has remained one of the Rangers’ most consistent hitters in September, following a torrid August, spurring debate over whether he or Hamilton is the team’s Most Valuable Player this season.

Hamilton will sit tonight after receiving an injection of an anti-inflammatory after Wednesday’s game, but could play Friday night.
