Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Terrance Knighton will miss the first three months of team workouts while recovering from eye surgery, according to NFL.com. Knighton sustained the injury outside a Jacksonville night club earlier this month.

Reports of the incident vary, but one suggests that Knighton and others were kicked out of the night club for fighting, and they threatened to return and “shoot people.”

Still, the Jaguars are sticking by Knighton and plan to monitor him during his absence.

Jaguars defensive tackle Terrance Knighton’s eye surgery went well and he plans on making a full recovery, according to The Florida Times Union.

“Thank you everyone for the support,” Knighton tweeted, making his first public comments since he suffered the injury Sunday morning. “I plan on making a full recovery. Thank you fans, family and friends.”

Knighton suffered a serious injury, but the prognosis seems positive and should not be career threatening. The injury reportedly came after a bar fight between his friend and a stranger.

“It wasn’t his altercation; it wasn’t his argument,” his agent, Tony Fleming said. “Terrance was not involved in the altercation. His friend was involved.”

Knighton is entering his fourth season with the Jaguars after being drafted in the third round in 2009. Last season he had 29 tackles. During his career with the Jaguars he has had 108 tackles, one forced fumble, and 5.5 sacks.
