NFL Most Valuable Player Adrian Peterson has weighed in on speculation concerning teammate Percy Harvin’s future with the Vikings.

Peterson told a KFAN-FM audience Tuesday there’s no way he’d trade Harvin if it was his decision.

Peterson stated his preference in the wake of reports that both sides are preparing drastic action. The Vikings are expected to attempt to trade Harvin, according to Mike Max of WCCO in Minneapolis. If Harvin is not traded or offered a new Vikings contract, he reportedly is likely to be a holdout.

The 24-year-old receiver led the NFL in total yards before he badly sprained an ankle in Week 10 last season. He requested a trade last June, and could be a valuable trade tool if the Vikings decided

“To be honest with you, I don’t know if we will or not. But me, individually, and giving you my opinion, I wouldn’t trade him for nothing,” Peterson said. “To do the the things that hes able to do, I don’t think there will be a player able to do it better than him. Ever.”

The Minnesota Vikings are expected to attempt to trade embattled wide receiver Percy Harvin this offseason, according to a report from Mike Max of WCCO in Minneapolis.

The Vikings want to trade Harvin after a much-publicized incident in November, during which Harvin went on a tirade  against head coach Leslie Frazier. Max reported that teammates did not take kindly to the blowup from Harvin after directed a similar rant two years earlier at then-head coach Brad Childress.

Max reported that the feud between Harvin and Frazier was the reason Harvin was subsequently placed on injured reserve with ankle ailment that didn’t require surgery.

Since the incident between Harvin and Frazier, Harvin’s future with the team has been uncertain. Last month, quarterback Christian Ponder referred to Harvin in the past tense, saying in a radio interview that Harvin “was a good teammate.” General manager Rick Spielman was also non-committal when asked in a radio interview this week whether the team would keep Harvin in Minnesota.

“Percy Harvin is a member of this football team and he is a very good football player,” Spielman said, according to Pro Football Talk.  “We don’t like to get rid of good football players.”

The Minnesota Vikings have shut down wide receiver Percy Harvin for the remainder of the 2012-2013 season.

The Vikings announced Harvin’s move to injured reserve Wednesday night, just over a month after tearing a ligament in his ankle in week 9′s loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Harvin will finish the season with 62 receptions for 677 yards and three touchdown grabs.

The loss looms especially large for the Vikings, who have struggled developing a consistent aerial threat in Harvin’s absence – despite being out for the past three games, Harvin remains the Vikings’ leading receiver.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin will miss a third consecutive game as he was ruled him out for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers, the team announced.

Harvin has missed the last two games with a sprained left ankle and will not travel to Green Bay with the team.

“The ability to push off and change direction seems to be giving him a little bit of trouble,” Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said this week.

Frazier said Harvin had no real setbacks but he hasn’t made the improvement that the team had hoped for. Harvin has played in nine games this season, catching 62 passes for 677 yards and three touchdowns.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin is on crutches for a sprained ankle and said he is a “long shot” to play Sunday against the Detroit Lions, reports ESPN.com.

Harvin sprained his ankle in the Vikings’ 30-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks and had just two catches for 10 yards and three rushes for 27 yards when he left the game in the second quarter. Harvin has missed only three games due to injury in his four years in the NFL. Harvin has a NFL-leading 62 receptions for 677 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin has requested a trade from the team, reports the Associated Press‘ Jon Krawczynski in a tweet.

Krawczynski reported on Harvin’s unhappiness Tuesday, when the receiver spoke out on the first day of the team’s minicamp.

“I just put it this way, there’s a lot of different things that have to be sorted out,” Harvin said. “Just haven’t been really happy lately. We’ve got a couple of things to work on. I’m here in the classroom. We’ll go from there.”

Harvin wasn’t specific on the reasons for his problems with the team, but apparently he has reached a breaking point with the Vikings.

The 24-year-old Harvin is entering his fourth season in the NFL. He caught 87 passes for 967 yards and six touchdowns last season.

Minnesota Vikings receiver Percy Harvin revealed tonight that he will require surgery on his shoulder.

Harvin also clarified in a later tweet that he expects a quick recovery and should be ready for the team’s organized team activities (OTAs) this year, which typically begin in May. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported tonight that Harvin’s procedure will be just an arthroscopic cleanup.

Harvin, the Vikings’ No. 22 overall pick in the 2009 draft, made a career-high 87 catches last season for 967 yards and six touchdowns.

The Vikings’ wideout isn’t the only major injury concern this spring — superstar running back Adrian Peterson tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee late last season and is currently on the long road to recovery.
