Report: Ozzie Smith auctioning off MLB paraphernalia

Former Cardinals shortstop and Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith is auctioning off a mass of baseball awards and other paraphernalia, according to a CBS Sports report. ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick tweeted details about the sale:
Ozzie Smith is selling his Gold Gloves and World Series rings. Auction house says it's for "estate and family planning.''—

However, the sale may not necessarily be the result of financial problems for Smith.
It’s possible it’s just to help set up funding for posterity, and not Smith personally. No further details are available, but any sort of personal money woes would be relatively surprising.
Smith, 57, made over $31 million during his playing career and started his own entrepreneurial ventures including a restaurant and salad dressing after retiring from baseball. He played for the Cardinals for 15 of his 19 years in the big leagues and served as the team’s special instructor during this past spring training.
