Minnesota free agent forward Martell Webster reportedly worked out with the Washington Wizards this week as the team looks to add depth behind recently-acquired swingman Trevor Ariza from the New Orleans Hornets, according to Michael Lee of The Washington Post.

Webster averaged 6.9 points and 3.6 rebounds in 24 minutes per game last season for the Timberwolves. He had perhaps his best season in 2007-08 when he averaged 10.7 points on 42-percent shooting in only his third season in the league.

The Wizards have a number of forwards on the roster but the addition of Webster would almost certainly guarantee that he becomes the first man off the bench when head coach Randy Witmann looks to rest his starters.

Webster’s teammate in Minnesota is also reportedly being looked at by Washington. They join a list of other players being eyed by the team including former All-Star and Phoenix Suns free agent Michael Redd. Shawne Williams, the 6-9 forward who last played with the Nets in New Jersey and Terrence Williams of the Sacramento Kings are also being considered by the Wizards, according to Lee.

UPDATE: “A source with knowledge of the deal” tells Marc Stein of ESPN.com that Webster has agreed to a contract with Washington, although terms of the deal are still unknown.

Sam Amick of SI.com has the terms of the agreement:

Sam Amico of Fox Sports lists five teams as possible suitors for free agent guard Michael Redd and one for free agent guard Derek Fisher:

Apparently no interest from Cavs on Ohio guy Michael Redd, but teams mentioned as possible suitors include the…

Wizards, Nuggets, Grizzlies, Bulls, and yes, Thunder, who still have a spot available in the backcourt after Derek Fisher’s departure.

As for Fisher, it would not surprise me to see him end up with the Spurs.

Former Milwaukee Bucks All-Star Michael Redd is expected to sign with the veteran laden Phoenix Suns, according to The Arizona Republic.

Redd, 32, worked out for the Suns earlier this week at the U.S. Airways Center, according to The Arizona Republic, and is expected to sign with the team today. Redd, however, would not likely play until he returns to playing shape and gets more acclimated with the Suns’ offensive system.

The 11-year-veteran has only played in 44 games over the past three seasons as a result of debilitating knee injuries. When healthy, however, Redd was one of the better outside scorers of the previous decade. In 578 NBA games he has averaged 20 points per game, and shot 38 percent from behind the three-point line.

The Suns, who have begun the season 0-2, are in need of an outside shooting presence. Jason Richardson, Vince Carter, and Hedo Turkoglu, who represented three of the team’s top four three-point shooters last year, are no longer with the club.
