Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno faces drunk driving charges after getting pulled over by Denver Police last week, according to FOX31 in Denver.

Moreno, 24, was driving a Bentley convertible on Interstate 25 on Wednesday when he was pulled over for going as fast as 70 miles per hour in a construction zone. The posted speed limit was 45. The officer smelled alcohol and Moreno did poorly on a roadside sobriety test.

Moreno’s Bentley had personalized license plates that read “SAUCED.”

“We take the incident involving Knowshon Moreno very seriously and are thoroughly reviewing this matter,” the Broncosa said in a statement. “Our organization will continue to gather information and closely monitor this issue while the legal process runs its course.”

Moreno was the Broncos’ No. 12 overall pick in the 2009 draft out of Georgia. He began the 2011 season splitting carries with Willis McGahee but eventually lost the starting job. His season was cut short in November by a torn ACL.

Denver Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno has a torn ACL, according to a tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Bronco’s back-up injured his knee with 2:18 remaining in the first quarter after a 22-yard run. Moreno had run for 52 yards on just four carries in what was on pace to be his best game of the season.

The former first round pick has run for 179 yards on 37 carries this year, and has no rushing touchdowns. His best year came in 2009-10 when he ran for 947 yards and recorded seven touchdowns on the ground.

Moreno currently ranks fourth on the team in rushing behind Willis McGahee, Tim Tebow, and Lance Ball.
