Veteran infielder Julio Lugo has been on the decline for the better part of a half-decade, but he’s not out of baseball just yet. Dionisio Soldevila of the AP reports that Lugo has signed a minor league contract with the Indians.

Lugo saw very limited playing time for the Braves last year, making just 48 plate appearances in 22 games. He had a .136 batting average when he was finally released on Sept. 2.

It’s doubtful that the Indians’ big-league roster will have room for Lugo, who turned 36 in November. The Tribe is well-stocked with a trio of solid middle infielders in Asdrubal Cabrera, Jason Donald and Jason Kipnis.

Lugo has played 12 major league seasons split across seven different teams. He has a career average of .269 and 198 stolen bases.
