The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have officially signed free agent Josh Willingham to a three-year, $21 million dollar deal.

The 32-year-old outfielder passed a physical today securing the deal.

Willingham spent last season with the Oakland Athletics, hitting .262/.371/.475 with 29 home runs and 98 RBI.

This signing will add more power to the Twins line up after they traded Delmon Young to the Detroit Tigers last season.  Willingham may also replace Michael Cuddyer in the right field.

The Minnesota Twins have agreed to multi-year contract with outfielder Josh Willingham, according to ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick.

Willingham spent last season with the Oakland Athletics, hitting .262/.371/.475 with 29 home runs and 98 RBI.

Under the new collective bargaining agreement, Willingham is a Type-A free agent, which means the Twins will not have to surrender any draft picks, though the A’s will still receive two picks to compensate for the loss.
