Canadiens sign Josh Gorges to six-year extension





The Montreal Canadiens and defenseman Josh Gorges have agreed on a six-year contract extension, the team announced Sunday.
Gorges, 27, has been with the team since 2006-07, and has contributed nine goals and 50 assists.
Named an assistant captain at the beginning of the season, Gorges has appeared in each of Montreal’s 39 games and leads the team with a +6 plus/minus differential. He also leads the league with 101 blocked shots.
