The Portland Trail Blazers are showing interest in center Joel Przybilla, according to the Associated Press. Any deal with the team would be contingent on a physical.

Przybilla spent six seasons in Portland before he was dealt to Charlotte a season ago, and the Blazers would have to cut a current player to make roster space for Przybilla.

There have been reports that the deal has already been made, but the AP is reporting that the deal is not final and Przybilla will be taking a physical sometime this week.

“It appears imminent,” Przybilla’s agent, Bill Duffy, told the AP.

Przybilla has averaged 4.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in his 11-year NBA career.

With Zydrunas Ilgauskas retired and Juwan Howard days away from his 39th birthday, the Miami Heat are really hurting for depth at the post positions, and they’re beginning to look into outside hires to alleviate the problem. Miami has made offers to both Kenyon Martin and Joel Przybilla, their agents told ESPN.com.

Martin, 34, averaged 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds in 48 games for the Nuggets last season. When the lockout began last summer, he left the States and signed a one-year contract with Xinjiang in China; he will be eligible to return to an NBA team when the Chinese season ends in a couple of weeks.

Martin wants to join a contending team where he can play a prominent role — he’s considering the Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, San Antonio Spurs, New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks, according to ESPN.

Przybilla, 32, has battled knee injuries throughout his 11-year career, averaging just 50 games per season. He played in 36 last season for the Portland Trail Blazers and Charlotte Bobcats, averaging 1.8 points and 4.0 rebounds. Przybilla is expected to choose between the Heat and the Chicago Bulls.

The Heat are currently 16-6, tied for second place in the Eastern Conference. They’ve leaned on Chris Bosh, their featured big man, for a team-high 800 minutes this season.
