Alex Rodriguez won’t waive no-trade clause, ‘will be back’ with Yankees

Just after the Yankees were swept by the Detroit Tigers in the American League Championship Series, an embattled but defiant Alex Rodriguez said he would “be back” next season and had no plans to waive his trade clause.
Plans change, but ARod says he has no plans to waive no-trade clause. “That’s correct. I will be back. I have a lot to prove.”

Rodriguez struggled through an abysmal postseason, hitting just .111 through the two series. He was benched for Games 3 and 4 of the ALCS by Yankees manager Joe Girardi.
As the criticism piled up in the past few days, so did trade possibilities involving Rodriguez. But Rodriguez, 37, still has five years and $114 million left on his contract, a good portion of which the Yankees would likely have to eat to make any deal work.
