The Philadelphia Phillies have officially re-signed shortstop Jimmy Rollins to a three-year, $33 million deal, according to Major League Baseball’s official Twitter account.

The deal also reportedly includes a vesting option for 2015, which would allow the three-time All-Star to return to Philadelphia for his 16th season.

During the Winter Meetings it appeared unclear whether Rollins, who has played his entire career with Philadelphia, would return in 2012. The 33-year-old reportedly wanted a five-year deal, however the Phillies were not willing to commit to him on a long-term deal.

Last season in 142 games, Rollins hit .268/.338/.399 with 16 home runs and 87 runs scored. The former National League Most Valuable Player has a career 162 game average of .272/.329/.432 with 17 home runs and 107 runs scored.
