This season the Bears appeared to be playoff bound after a promising 7-3 start, however the team fell apart following the loss of their starting quarterback Jay Cutler, and starting running back Matt Forte. The club went on to lose five of their next six games to finish at 8-8 on the year.
Angelo had served as the general manager of the Bears since the 2001 season. He helped put together the 2006 Bears squad that lost to the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLI.
