Unrestricted free agent forward Jeff Green, whose one-year, $9 million contract was voided after he was diagnosed with a heart ailment during the last preseason, appears likely to stay with the Boston Celtics, his agent, David Falk, told Sam Amick of SI.com.

“I’m confident it’ll get done,” Falk told Amick. “I guess they got (Brandon) Bass’ (contract) done, which is great. Jeff is trying to get a sense of what the team looks like first before he makes a commitment, but I expect he’ll be there and I expect it’ll be done by the 11th (when the free agency moratorium ends). We’ve gotten a lot of interest from other teams. But as far as Boston, we’re very confident we’ll get it done.”

One source with knowledge of the talks tells Amick that the deal is in the four-year, $40 million neighborhood. That led to these tweets from SI.com’s Zach Lowe:

  • Report: Celtics get 2nd round pick from Thunder in Jeff Green medical dispute

The Boston Celtics will receive a second-round draft pick from the Oklahoma City Thunder as compensation in a dispute over the medical condition of forward Jeff Green, reports Yahoo! Sports writer Adrian Wojnarowski.

Boston acquired Green in last season’s trade that sent center Kendrick Perkins to Oklahoma City. Green missed all of the 2011-12 season after he needed surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm uncovered in a physical last December.

Green had successful surgery on Jan. 12 and is now “100 percent,” his agent, David Falk, told SI.com’s Sam Amick earlier this month. The Celtics withdrew their qualifying offer to Green in December, making the forward a free agent. Falk told Amick that at least a dozen teams have expressed interest in Green.

Green could re-sign with the Celtics, but he now has other options.

Perkins became a starter for the Thunder as they reached last season’s Western Conference Finals and this season’s NBA Finals.

Boston Celtics forward Jeff Green underwent successful surgery Monday to repair a potentially life threatening aeortic aneurysm, according to the Boston Globe.

“Surgery went well,” Celtics head coach Doc Rivers told the Globe. “They’re saying it went great. Obviously, our thoughts, our prayers and every part of our being is with Jeff right now.”

Doctors found the aneurysm during a routine physical with the team in December. The condition, which if unfound could have been potentially fatal, is believed to force Green out for the entirety of the 2011-12 season.

Last season Green averaged 13.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in 75 contests between the Boston Celtics and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Boston Celtics forward Jeff Green has not been able to practice with the team because he failed to pass a physical, CSN New England reports.

Celtics president of basketball operations, Danny Ainge, told reporters that the club had “found something” in his physical, which caused them to leave him off of the practice court. CSN New England reports, however, that the finding should not jeopardize the one-year, $9 million contract Green recently signed with Boston.

“We anticipate he’ll be here soon in practice,” Ainge told CSN New England. “He’s going through the tests again today and tomorrow, and he should be fine.”

Green, 25, averaged 13.3 points and 4.8 rebounds between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Celtics last season. In 49 games prior to being traded to Boston, Green scored 15.2 points per game as a starter for the Thunder. In the second half of the season, the former first round pick averaged just 9.8 points per contest serving mostly as a reserve for the Celtics.
