Report: J.D. Drew Likely To Retire

Boston Red Sox right fielder J.D. Drew is likely to retire, according to a tweet from CBS’s Jon Heyman.

Drew struggled last season for the Red Sox. The 35-year-old hit just .222/.315/.302 with four home runs and 22 RBI in 81 games for Boston. Over the course of his 14-year-career he has recorded 1437 hits, 242 home runs, and hit .278/.384/.489.

Drew earned his sole All-Star appearance in 2008 when he hit .280/.408/.519 with 19 home runs and 64 RBI in 109 games played. In 2004 he finished in the top ten in NL MVP voting after he hit .305/.436/.569 with 31 home runs and 93 RBI.
