Arizona Cardinals kicker Jay Feely has said that even though he is a placekicker, he is also a real football player. Feely is now getting fined like real football players, as well.

Feely was fined $7,875 by the NFL for unnecessary roughness on Friday, reports the Associated Press.  Feely delivered a late hit out of bounds on a kickoff Sunday in the Cardinals’ overtime victory over the Miami Dolphins.

Feely did go on to kick the game-winning 46-yard field goal to give the Cardinals a 24-21 victory.

Kicker Jay Feely is 35 years old but still going strong — the Arizona Cardinals have re-signed Feely for another two years, according to Cardinals reporter Darren Urban.

Feely made 19 of 24 field-goal attempts for the Cardinals last year, and 24 of 27 in 2010. He’s appeared in all 32 of the team’s games over the last two seasons.

A 12-year veteran, Feely has played for the Cardinals, New York Jets, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons. He’s scored 1,210 points since entering the NFL in 2001.
