Jason Pierre-Paul of the New York Giants considered making an appearance on TNA Wrestling tomorrow night but now appears to be backing out, according to FOX Sports.

“He declined because he is exhausted,” said Robert Bailey, president of Rosenhaus Sports.

TNA and Spike TV officials thought they had finalized a deal earlier this week to pit the Giants’ defensive end against Kurt Angle at a TNA television taping in Orlando. Bailey, though, said Pierre-Paul had not signed off on the deal.

Pierre-Paul, 23, was the No. 15 overall pick in the 2010 draft. The Giants’ second-year star was a key piece of the defensive line that led New York to victory in Super Bowl XLVI.

New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul says the Giants need to keep Osi Umenyiora on the team once his contract is up after the 2012-13 season, according to the New York Post.

“I think it’s very important,” Pierre-Paul told The Post. “Give him what he wants, man.

“That’s a great guy and trust me, a guy like that on your team, he’s a playmaker,” Pierre-Paul said during an appearance at Macy’s in Manhattan last night. “Just us three defensive ends, we’ve got a couple more on the line, but I feel like we’re all on there together, it’s unstoppable. Who’s going to stop us? We’ve got the best defensive line in the country, and everybody sees that. So bring him back.”

Umenyiora and the Giants had contract issues in the past. In fact, the defensive end did not report on the opening day of the Giants’ training camp because he claimed that general manager Jerry Reese promised to renegotiate his contract after the 2010 season, but failed to do so.  As a result the Giants placed him on Reserve Report.

Limited most of the 2011-12 season due to a knee injury, Umenyiora totaled 25 tackles, two forced fumbles, and nine sacks through five games including the Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots.

Chicago Bears defensive end Julius Peppers has been added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster today, according to the team’s official Twitter account.

Voted in as a first alternate, Peppers will replace the Super Bowl bound Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul.

Peppers totaled 11 sacks in 2011, five tackles-for-loss, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.  The 32-year-old is currently tied for third most sacks (100) in the NFL since he was drafted in 2002 by the Carolina Panthers.

While the Bears’ Pro Bowl selected linebackers Brian Urlacher (knee) and Lance Briggs (ankle) will be sidelined due to injuries, running back Matt Forte, cornerback Charles Tillman and special teams standout Corey Graham are expected to play in Hawaii.
