Pittsburgh Steelers star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, and outside linebacker James Harrison are willing to restructure their contracts to help the club become more flexible this offseason, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune.

Roethlisberger and Harrison are currently the two highest paid players and the team. Roethlisberger is currently in the midst of an eight-year, $102 million deal, and Harrison is halfway through a six-year, $51.175 million deal.

The Steelers have already restructured the contracts of LaMarr Woodley, Lawrence Timmons, and Ike Taylor to help clear cap space.

Last season, Pittsburgh posted a 12-4 record but was eliminated in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs by the Denver Broncos.

Typically, the NFL prefers its players mum during games, as well as directly before and after. However, in this year’s Pro Bowl, the league is encouraging players to tweet during the game, an idea that doesn’t sit well with Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison.

The NFL rule, in fact, is that players cannot tweet 90 minutes prior to a game and not until they have finished speaking to the media afterwards.

The NFL has placed computers on each sideline this year in hopes that players and fans can interact via Twitter during the game.

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark has been added to the 2012 Pro Bowl according to the Steelers’ official Twitter account.

Clark will be replacing Baltimore Ravens Ed Reed who will miss the game due to an injury.  In 2011, Clark totaled 100 tackles, one sack, and one interception.

The 32-year-old safety was forced to watch from the sidelines as the Steelers were eliminated by the Denver Broncos in the first round of the playoffs this season. Clark suffers from a rare blood disorder that makes it difficult for him to play at high altitudes. The game was held at Sports Authority Field at Mile High in Denver.

Along with Clark, six other Steelers were selected for the Pro Bowl including Ben Roethlisberger, wide receiver Mike Wallace, center Maurkice Pouncey (missing the game with an injury), safety Troy Polamalu (missing the game with an injury),  kick returner Antonio Brown and linebacker James Harrison.

Browns quarterback Colt McCoy was not tested for a concussion after a helmet-to-helmet hit by Pittsburgh’s James Harrison in last Thursday’s game, the Associated Press reports.

Browns president Mike Holmgren told reporters today that despite reports from the team that they maintained proper protocol following the vicious hit, the team trainers did not check McCoy for concussion symptoms because they did not see the play. According to the AP, the trainers were tending to other players at the time of the collision.

Since the incident, the NFL Players Association has launched an investigation in order to gather information about what measures were taken by Cleveland’s training staff. The 25-year-old McCoy was allowed by the Browns to play the remainder of the fourth quarter following the hit.

Harrison has been suspended one game for the head-to-head hit that resulted in McCoy’s concussion.

The NFL has suspended Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison one game for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy, according to a tweet from Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.

Harrison hit McCoy hard in the fourth quarter of Thursday’s 14-2 Steelers’ victory over the Browns. McCoy returned to the game following the hit but it was later revealed that the 25-year-old quarterback had suffered a concussion. There has since been speculation about whether he should have been allowed to return to the field.

The NFL has made a concerted effort to clamp down on helmet-to-helmet hits this season.
