Hanley Ramirez Reports To Marlins Spring Training, Takes Grounders At Third Base

Hanley Ramirez took ground balls at third base today at the Miami Marlins’ spring training facility in Jupiter, Fla., according to the Associated Press.
Ramirez has been the Marlins’ everyday shortstop for the last six years, but he’s trying out the new position to make room for Jose Reyes, who signed a six-year, $106 million deal in December to become the team’s new shortstop. Much like Alex Rodriguez in New York with Derek Jeter, Ramirez is willing to move to accommodate his fellow superstar.
Only pitchers and catchers have reported to Marlins spring training so far, but Ramirez reported early to begin rehabbing from surgery on his left shoulder. Ramirez played only 92 games last season, hitting a career-low .243 with only 10 home runs.
