Orlando Magic big man has been fined $35,000 for making an obscene gesture toward the crowd in Toronto during Monday night’s win over the Raptors, according to Josh Robbins of the Orlando Sentinel.

“Big Baby” appeared to direct a middle finger at a fan midway through the second quarter of Monday’s game, but he denied any intent to express obscenity.

“No, I had blood on my hands,” Davis said Monday night. “It was my middle finger, so I think they thought I was flipping somebody off, but I wasn’t. I was getting blood off my finger.”

Davis’ story checks out — he had been hit on the head, and he later needed five stitches to close a laceration. There was blood found later on his head and fingertips. Nevertheless, Davis is out 35 grand.

The Boston Celtics will send forward Glen Davis and guard Von Wafer to the Orlando Magic in exchange for forward Brandon Bass, the Magic announced Monday.

Davis saw action in 78 games a season ago, making 13 starts and averaging 11.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Wafer appeared more sparingly, starting only two games and averaging just 3.2 points in less than 10 minutes a game.

“Glen (Davis) is a versatile player that adds size to our frontcourt,” Orlando president of basketball operations and general manager Otis Smith said. “He has a solid mid-range jumper and is a strong team defensive player. Von (Wafer) brings athleticism and aggressiveness on the offensive end. We’re excited to add both to our team and we wish Brandon all the best.”

Bass has been with three teams in his career, averaging 7.7 points and 4.1 rebounds a game.

The Boston Celtics will execute a sign and trade with forward Glen Davis in a deal that will send Orlando Magic forward Brandon Bass to Boston, a source has told Marc. J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports.

Davis, 25, played a large role coming off the bench for the Celtics last season. The six-foot-nine big man averaged 11.7 points and 5.4 rebounds in 29.5 minutes per game for Boston.  The club acquired him via trade after the Seattle SuperSonics originally drafted him in the second round of the 2007 NBA Draft.

Bass, 26, saw time as both a starter and a reserve in 2010-11. The Six-foot-eight forward averaged 11.3 points and 5.6 rebounds in 26.1 minutes per game for the Magic. Bass was originally drafted by the New Orleans Hornets in the 2005 NBA Draft.
