Derrick Mason, the Baltimore Raven’s all-time leader in yards and receptions, will officially announce his retirement on Monday, reported Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com:

The best numbers of Derrick Mason’s career came when he was with the Tennessee Titans. The final season of his 15-year career came with the New York Jets and Houston Texans. But Mason will retire a Baltimore Raven.

Mason will officially announce his retirement at a ceremony with Baltimore on Monday that will include coach John Harbaugh and general manager Ozzie Newsome.

The Ravens released him before the 2011 season and then he was last on an NFL roster for the New York Jets and the Houston Texans.

Mason tweeted on Monday morning that he is happy with the decision.

He is 19th in receiving yards in NFL history and owns the record for kick return yards in a single post-season. He had been selected to two NFL Pro-Bowls as well as an All-Pro season in 2000.

15-year NFL veteran Derrick Mason will retire from the NFL, according to online reports. Mason spent 2011 with the Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets, and Houston Texans.

“I’m done,” Mason told Scout.com. “I won’t be playing football. I leave it healthy and able to run and walk and not take a half-hour or 45 minutes to get out of bed. Me leaving now, even though it didn’t happen the way I wanted it to happen, I had a good run.”

Mason, 37, was a two-time Pro Bowl selection who spent the majority of his career with the Ravens and Tennessee Titans.
