Miles spurned interest from the Los Angeles Lakers, Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, and Dallas Mavericks. According to Smith, these teams were capable of offering Miles more money, but Miles wanted the chance to be a starter and have his own impact, even if it came with a smaller paycheck.
Drafted straight out of high school by the Jazz in 2005, Miles has played all of his seven NBA seasons in Utah. He enjoyed a career year in 2010-11, averaging 12.8 points and 3.3 rebounds a game in a role that mostly saw him come off the bench. His production dipped slightly last season, though at 25, he offers the unusual combination of being both young and experienced.
