Andre Miller has re-signed with the Nuggets for a three-year deal, Yahoo! Sports’ Marc J. Spears reported on Twitter late Sunday night.

The deal keeps the 36-year-old Miller in Denver, where he has played in parts of five of his 13 career NBA seasons. He was an important role player for the Nuggets last season, mostly coming off the bench to average near 10 points and 6.7 assists per game. He put up 11.3 points and six assists per game in the Nuggets’ seven-game loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

The Nuggets will now look to re-sign restricted free agent center JaVale McGee, to whom they extended a qualifying offer. Yahoo!’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported earlier Sunday that the Nuggets will meet with McGee on Monday to discuss a contract extension.

Andre Miller, the Denver Nuggets veteran point guard, will reportedly talk to Miami Heat officials this summer about playing for the team next season, according to a tweet from Chris Tomasson of Fox Sports.

Miller said following his teams playoff loss to the Lakers this season that he wants to play for a championship-caliber team at this point in his career and is willing to become a back-up point guard as a sacrifice for the opportunity to win now, according to Pro Basketball Talk’s Matt Moore:

“I’ll keep my options open,” Miller said. “At this point in my career, if I’m going to be a backup, I’m going to be a backup on a championship-caliber team. Obviously, this team is a good team that’s going to get to the playoffs, but the thing is if they are committed to getting to that next level to compete for that championship.”

“I want to be on a team that’s going to compete for a championship, and not use youth as a crutch or inexperience as a crutch,” Miller said.

“This team does have guys that can compete and can get out of the first round. It’s just whether I can swallow my pride and deal with being a backup point guard. I have no problem with it, but at the same time I definitely still see myself as a starter in this league. Like I said, you have to swallow your pride sometimes. These young guys are coming in and they’re working for it. So, that’s just part of the business that I’m learning.”

Miller, who will become a free agent this off-season, was making $7.8 million in the final year of his contract with the Nuggets last season. If he signs with the Heat, according to Tomasson, he would have to take more than a 50 percent pay cut.

Denver Nuggets point guard Andre Miller is unhappy with his current back-up role to Ty Lawson, according to Fox Sports.

“At this point in my career, I don’t see myself as a backup,” Miller, who entered the league in 1999, told Fox Sports, “For 13 years, I wasn’t a backup before. This is a short season (due to the lockout), so I’ll deal with it. But I don’t see myself as a backup at this point in my career. I don’t see that.”

Miller will become a free-agent after the season and has said that he probably won’t return to the Nuggets if his role remains the same, although he did not completely rule out the option.

“It depends on the situation,” Miller said. “It’s just something that you have to get used to. I don’t want to get used to it. But if the situation says that I have to stay here for a couple of years, cool. But that’s just something that I’d have to worry about later on.”‘

Despite coming off the bench this season, Miller has still averaged 10.0 points and 6.5 assists per game for Denver.
