The New York Knicks are expected to sign former Phoenix Suns guard Shannon Brown to a 10-day contract on Thursday, according to a report on Wednesday from Chris Broussard of ESPN.

The news comes as reports surfaced this week that the Knicks will also sign former Cleveland Cavaliers forward Earl Clark.

The 28-year-old Brown averaged 10.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 59 games for the Suns last season. He was used sparingly in 10 games this season with the Spurs, and San Antonio opted not to sign him to a second 10-day deal earlier this month. He played a pivotal role as a highflying shooter on the Lakers from 2009-11, winning two championships with the team during his time in Los Angeles.

Clark and Brown are expected to fill the spots vacated by forward Metta World Peace and guard Beno Udrih, both of whom negotiated buyouts with the Knicks earlier this week.

This week has been busy for New York. The Knicks (21-36) are currently dealing with ongoing legal proceedings involving starting point guard Raymond Felton, who was charged this week with three counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

Adding to the drama, swingman J.R. Smith was seen pulling down the headband of Vince Carter during a last second loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. Smith, who was fined by the league earlier this season for two incidents in which he was seen untying the shoelaces of opponents during game action, said the footage of him and Carter was simply an illusion.
