The Oakland Raiders announced that they have signed cornerback Taiwan Jones to a three-year extension worth $4.355 million, according to Fox Sports’ Mike Garafalo.

The former fourth round pick spent his first two seasons in the league as a running back before being converted to a cornerback prior to the 2013 season. He also played on special teams last season.

Jones says he hopes to be a Pro-Bowl caliber defender in 2014.

“I feel good about next year. Obviously, I was able to do a lot of good things on special teams last year. Unfortunately, I didn’t make the Pro Bowl last year, but that is something I’m shooting for this year.”

Jones was set to become a free agent after the 2014 season when his rookie contract expired, but will now remain with Oakland through 2017.

Good attitude, decent talent, not going to set the world on fire but a good role player. Kid is smart enough to listen to advice.
