Buster Posey eager to learn from Barry Bonds at Giants camp
“I’m excited just to listen, for sure,” Posey said to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle. “From talking to people that either coached him or played with him, everybody said he had a very straightforward, simple approach. To me, that’s a huge part of hitting, trying to keep things as simple as possible.”
Posey, the 2012 NL MVP, hit .294 with 15 homers and 72 RBIs in 148 games last season, when he made his second All-Star appearance. But his numbers were down from a league-leading .336 batting average with 24 home runs and 103 RBIs in the same number of games in 2012. His OPS dropped from .957 in 2012 to .821 last season.
The 26-year-old said he will talk to Bonds mostly about his approach at the plate and also hitting drills that helped him.
The Giants ranked 21st in the majors last season with 629 runs.
