Teddy Bridgewater: ‘I’m the best quarterback in the draft’

Three quarterbacks — Teddy Bridgewater, Johnny Manziel and Blake Bortles — are expected to be taken early in the first round of April’s draft.

Bridgewater, the former Louisville star, believes he’s the best of the three.

“No doubt, I feel that I’m the best quarterback in this draft,” Bridgewater told reporters at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis on Saturday. “I’m not going to just say that. I actually feel I can back up these words. I’m just confident in myself and my capability of doing all the things at this position and to go out there and prove that I’m the best guy.”

Bridgewater, who won’t throw at the combine, completed 71 percent of his passes last season.

When asked why he decided not to throw, he said, “I will throw at my pro day. The biggest thing was just me being a perfectionist, I just want everything to go right.

“Whether I’m taking a five-step drop and the guy is not on top of his route or the times when I don’t have that chemistry with the guys, I tend to look at it from a pro standpoint. You want to be with your guys to have that timing and that connection. So that was the biggest thing.”

In three seasons at Louisville, Bridgewater threw for 9,817 yards, 72 touchdowns and 24 interceptions, and had a 29-8 record as a starter, including 12-1 last season.

SI is "Lying".!! **Bridgewater said, when asked, "I Feel That I'm The Best QB in The Draft" big difference. Oh, he's right by the way.!!

24 int's in three years? Not exactly impressive!

You're the best QB in the draft?

We're not interested in who's the best on Draft Day, we're more interested in who'll be the best from the 2014 Draft 10 years down the road.

Top 5 Selections

Houston

St. Louis

Jacksonville

Cleveland

Oakland

Yeah.....maybe its better to just be really good and go lower in the round to an established team with a stable coaching staff rather than these trainwrecks that have QB Killer written all over them.

No. I'm the best quarterback in the draft.

The only reason guys bypass the combine is because they feel that they may not live up to expectations. Period.

Manziel says the same thing

@Pete1229  Peyton Manning threw 27 int's in his last 3 college years. Stick with baseball.

@Matthew W  Sweet Jesus! Who would want to play for any team on that list - and I'm speaking as a a RAIDERS fan. I pity the fool who's drafted by any of those - "teams."

MrArlington.- the only thing that the Combine is good for, is to Expose Injuries. That's it, That's all.

@MrArlington

Or its that the Combine doesn't prove anything. Mike Mamula and the others have already proven that its overrated.

@The_truth_hurts  Other than their black skin and the QB position that they both play, What does he have in common with Jamarcus Russell. Please explain that one...

No it is just one aspect. It shows athleticism.  When game day skills are the same the combine can be a deciding factor.

@robertmccallghwvc @The_truth_hurts  I was simply referring to the fact that Russell is the biggest bust of all time, I was implying that Bridgwater will be the same thing. Nice way of trying to make me look like a racist.

@Jonjoe1959  That would be - YEA - of little faith.; and yes, after 25 years of following the RAIDERS my faith is indeed slipping.

@Centennial @The_truth_hurts @robertmccallghwvc  QB is the most important position. They were the #1 and #2 picks in their draft class. Bleacher report did a list of the 15th worst contracts ever. Russell was 2nd, Leaf was 3rd. NFL Network made a list of biggest draft busts in NFL history. Guess who was 1 and 2? Russell and Leaf. But you're right about everything huh? Moron.

@Centennial @The_truth_hurts @robertmccallghwvc  Leaf was the 2nd pick, Russell was the first. He also didn't get anywhere near the amount of money Russell did.  You are a complete fool if you don't think those players are the 2 biggest busts of all time. Stick to hockey and golf. Leave the NFL to the big boys.

@The_truth_hurts @robertmccallghwvc  No you weren't and you know it. FYI - Ryan Leaf was an even bigger bust than Russell. Furthermore, Neither Russel nor Leaf were the biggest busts of all time - not even close. You need to stick to spouting off about netball and synchronized swimming.
