A summons obtained by ESPN says Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice struck his fiancée with his hand, knocking her unconscious.

Rice and his fiancée were both arrested for simple assault Saturday at a casino in Atlantic City, N.J. A police report said Rice and the woman “struck each other with their hands.”

A video posted online by celebrity gossip website TMZ showed Rice grabbing the woman and lifting her by her arms out of a casino’s elevator and putting her on the ground.

Michael Diamondstein, Rice’s attorney, told the Baltimore Sun that the video showed “the very end of what transpired.”

“We just ask that the public remember what a high-character, good person Ray is, and that they reserve judgment until all facts are out,” Diamondstein said.

Did he wear his SB ring?

"high character, good person"/undersized brickwall of a man,  behaving in a cowardly, physically violent, illegal way toward a smaller, less powerful woman without a way to protect herself.  the legal system has to stop allowing these guys to skate on these types of charges just because they have testosterone, money and fame! (this includes a SB ring, and could also include steroids!)

Never. Hit. A. WOMAN. Ever.

Anyone who hits women is not a good upstanding gentleman.

 faulty reporting.  It says his fiance attempted to strike Ray Rice. Your report says Ray Rice struck his fiance.

Get it together SI!

If he did what it looks like he did, this guy should be suspended for a year -- at least. Put him in a cell with Hernandez. Two men enter, one man leaves...

As I recall, his mentor and idol is none other than Mr. Ray Lewis.  Need we say more....

His lawyer will wave that 35 million dollar contract in her face, and this will be written off as a big mi$under$tanding.

While I do think it is completely inappropriate to hit a female first and with some its hard to show restraint at all, if they attack you first I believe you have the right to defend yourself.  The idea that women can just go off and start swinging at their boyfriend, husband, etc... and suffer no consequences is BS.  Someone needs to be the bigger person and walk away before things even come to blows.  Actually if your relationship ever comes to this point even once you have no business being together, if it happens once it will most likely happen again.

based upon the attorneys comment are we to assume she "fainted" from being in the same elevator with a raven....i mean thats heady stuff in and of itself..

Just "come out" tomorrow Ray. All will be forgiven. They might even build a statue for you.

Beats a woman, huh?  Gee, I hope he won't be a distraction in the locker room

Hey Diamondstein, a "high-character, good person" doesn't knock out his fiancé, drag her most of the way out of an elevator, drop her head on the floor, try to pick her up and drop her again, and then walk away mad when it is apparent that the guy who walked up is telling him to stop moving her around (probably because security had been called).

Aww, c'mon. She was just trying  to make a tackle and got stiff armed. Next time she should wear a helmet.

I am a bit confused seeing the string of comments. Since when has it become acceptable to hit a woman? Amazing. Everyone is accountable for their actions. Even if you are a rich movie star or an athlete you are subject to the same rules in society. At least I hope so.

@Rob25  read the report silly goose.  She struck him, not the other way around.  SI is just running with faulty reporting.

@Rob25  Yes someone needs to walk away...the one who can make the other unconscious with one punch. Be the bigger man or in this case, the only one

Ah, another hetero victim who's jealous of any attention gays get for trying to overcome a culture that has treated them like crap.

How insecure do you have to be to resent other people wanting to be treated fairly? Truth hurts, doesn't it...

He will be a hero in the Ravens locker room.  Its an honor to have a police record in that locker room.

But we are siply misunderstanding everything, Rice is a stand up guy, we only saw the last 45 seconds or so, so its a big misunderstanding according to his scumbag attorney.

@Whatever

I don't think he was mad about being told to leave her be, I think he was mad because he was told that the police were on the way.

To me, it seems he was trying to get her up so he could get her the hell out of the casino before the police showed up

@Delusional  I suggest you try to use that as a legal defense if you choose to beat up a woman.  Tell me how that goes.

MikeHarrison

@Delusional

Not true.

I have been physically assaulted by women,  and have been arrested a grand total of ZERO times because of it.  Because I do not hit women, regardless of the circumstances, because if I do, I would probably knock her out like Ray Rice did with one hit.  Nope, not chancing it

Yes, we know "thug" is code for n**ger, used by low lives like yourself.

Thug behavior has nothing to do with hitting a woman - it's a coward's move.  Nor does Ray Lewis have anything to do with this story.

Funny thing is, you would slap your mother before saying anything to Ray Lewis's face.  You're as big a coward as Ray Rice.

Ah, another homosexual-enabler who's snarky whenever a straight person tries to overcome the gay/media tactics of personal destruction.

How insecure do you have to be to resent traditional people speaking their mind?  Truth hurts, doesn't it...

@MikeHarrison @hghenryIn no way, do I condone what Rice did.  There is no reason that a man who regularly gets tackled by strong NFL defensive players for a living, has to knock a woman out to prevent her from hitting him. However, it's unfair to write that that it is an honor to have a police report in the Ravens locker room.  Just because a team may contain jerks, it doesn't mean every player on the team is a jerk.  And, that goes for all teams.  For example, when Hernandez was arrested on murder charges, should that have changed everyone's opinion of Tom Brady or others in the Patriots locker room?  Of course not.  So, don't judge the other Ravens for Ray Rice's assault charge.

@pcwhite2 @PHIFAN20  Sorry, but rappers don't get to redefine the english language. Go look up 'thug', come back, and tell me what you found. And not from the 'Tupac dictionary', fool...

@pcwhite2 @PHIFAN20  "thug" is a word used to describe people who beat their unconscious girlfriends, regardless of color.

MikeHarrison

@pcwhite2 @PHIFAN20

I would say it to their face.  What could they do?  Hit me like they do their women?  They do that, they end up being arrested and paying medical bills plus would end up in civil court having to pay even more.

Know how many times I have been arrested for assaulting someone who said something bad about me?  ZERO.  Why?  Because I let the words roll off of me, and trust me, there were times where the person definitely crossed the line big time(I have had cops tell me after witnessing what someone was saying about me, that they probably would have slugged him half way through the rant), yet I never did.  Why?  Because I do not want to risk going to jail and being charged with a crime, thats why

There you are wrong sir, I'd very publicly say something to any of these morons, Ray, Ray, or Ritchie. The first beat down I took from any of them would make me a very rich man.

@pcwhite2 @PHIFAN20

Your bigotry is showing.

"Thug" is the term for a violent, vicious man.  It was used a lot for Richie Incognito, who is white.

But don't let the facts bother you.

P.S. Your pathology is showing.

Truth hurts? No getting knocked out by a professional football player hurts. I'd rather share a locker with a gay guy than a guy who beats his fiancée unconscious.

You forgot what forum this is.

Being judgemental is a birth right to some of these people.

It makes them feel better about their own, less accomplished, lives.
