The Baltimore Ravens and Pro-Bowl linebacker Terrell Suggs have reached agreement on a contract extension that will provide the team much-needed salary-cap room.

The new deal will keep Suggs on the Ravens through 2018, with $16 million guaranteed and a $12 million salary in the 2014 season, according to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com.

The 31-year-old Suggs was entering the last year of a long-term contract that would have put his cap number at $12.4 million next season, but the new deal will lower that number to $7.8 million. Newsome hinted last month that the Ravens would look to restructure his contract after he failed to produce much during the second half of last season. Suggs had nine sacks through the first eight games of the 2013 season. He finished with 10 sacks.

The 2013 Super Bowl champion Ravens finished a disappointing 8-8 this season, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2007.

Suggs looks like the kind of guy who would get body slammed by a lowland gorilla.

I feel you bro. I wouldn't want him on my team. The gorilla test never fails.

In fact, I'm pretty sure lowland gorilla wrestling is a new combine event.

But don't quote me on that...
