The Detroit Lions are expected to release wide receiver Nate Burleson on Thursday, which will save the team about $5.5 million in cap space, reports the Detroit Free Press‘ Dave Birkett.

Burleson has missed 17 games in the past two seasons, including seven games last year after breaking his left arm in September while trying to keep a pizza box from falling off a seat in his vehicle.

He returned to the team in December and finished with 39 catches for 461 yards and one touchdown.

“It’s a hard decision for them to make, but I can’t blame them for making it,” Burleson said.

He spent four seasons in Detroit after spending the previous four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

Brilliant, they erased the 4 years he spent in Seattle.

Got a feeling he'll land in Green Bay, Aaron may just turn him into a pro bowler.
