The 35-year-old, who is a three-time All Star, had a 5.59 ERA and nine saves in 20 appearances for the Tigers last season before he was designated for assignment.
He is 26-32 with a 3.19 ERA and 286 saves in 324 chances in his career for the Diamondbacks, Astros and Tigers.
The Mets will also have Kyle Farnsworth in camp to push incumbent closer Bobby Parnell.
