Former University of Texas head coach Mack Brown received a $2.75 million payout and the school placed him in a one-year, $500,000 job as a special assistant to the president for athletics, reports ESPN.com.

The payout would have been owed to him if Brown had been fired, but Brown instead resigned after 16 years at the school in December before Texas was routed by Oregon in the Alamo Bowl.

Brown was under contract at the time he resigned through the 2020 season at more than $5.4 million a season and was replaced by former Louisville head coach Charlie Strong.

“He resigned,” Texas spokesman Nick Voinis said. “This is what was agreed to. We’re honoring his contract.”

Brown’s contract had the $2.75 million payable in four equal annual installments if he was fired before Dec. 31, 2014.

"New Job"? Not quite, he is doing what every other coach UT fires does, picking up a paycheck while golfing.

So much money for the one percenters.  Just obscene. Coaches never have to work again in their lives. Grandkids set for life too. Meanwhile the poor black players leave college with broken dreams and damaged bodies. We need to share the wealth with the 99 percent of America.

Poor Mack................His feelings are hurt. How about sharing with the poor kids on the team?  Hmmmmm?

@amorosotom  You realize on a global scale, you are a ONE PERCENTER?  Take a sample of all the people on planet earth, and you are most likely either in the top 1 or at least top 2 percent.  When you start sharing all your wealth (all the things you don't consider wealth but what all the people in 3rd world countries have never even seen), then you can complain about the top 1% in this country.  Simply setting the limit of your 1%er diatribe at the borders of the US does not make you any better.  Just a hypocrite.

@amorosotom So, all of the white and latino players leave rich? Or do you mean the black players do not receive a great education for free? Or do you mean black players only play college football so they can make it to the nfl? Please clarify this for me..
