Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden reportedly wants out of the city to seek an opportunity to revive his career elsewhere, according to NFL.com’s Michael Silver.

Weeden, 30, was the 22nd pick in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft and has struggled since entering the league.

Last season, he only completed 52 percent of his passes for 1,731 yards with nine touchdowns and nine interceptions while starting five contests. He was 0-5 in those games.

Weeden has two years left on his rookie contract and is scheduled to make $1,124,872 next season and $1,492,308 in 2015.

The Browns had more turnover in the their front office on Tuesday, with general manager Michael Lombardi being fired and CEO Joe Banner saying he will be leaving the team in the next two months. The team also promoted Ray Farmer to general manager.

RICKMAN: Cleveland Browns’ change at GM the right call, even if timing is off

More from NFL.com:

“Given the turmoil with the coaching staff and lack of public support from the most recent front office,” Silver was told, “he’s interested in a fresh start, with a clean slate and an opportunity to compete to show he has the talent to develop into a productive player in the league.”

Pretty sure most people do not publicly discuss their displeasure with their bosses to the masses.  Let me know how that works out for you buddy... I'm sure other teams are scrambling to scarf you up

NFL really jobbed Cleveland, just imagine how electrified the city would have been had the real Browns not been whisked away right before they got good...kind of like how Seattle got to see a burgeoning NBA superpower yanked out from under them, then gets to look forward to a dogsh!t replacement team being awful until well after KD's retirement. Bummer. More than any other sports franchise, I'd like to see the Browns rebound (reBrownd? Could that be a thing?)

Who doesn't want out!? Sadly, not sure anybody wants you.

He's the worst QB in the NFL right now, unless Jake Delhomme is still signed on somewhere.

I really don't think Cleveland is that bad, by the way.  They have talented, aggressive, young defense and an awesome receiver.  If they had a remotely decent quarterback (not Brandon Wheeden) who wasn't a punk (not Johnny Manziel), they possibly could win the weak AFC North division.

Everyone else on the team wants out of Cleveland, too, but who in the world cares what Brandon Wheeden wants?  This guy has shown nothing but ineptitude in two years of playing.  And who would give anything up for him?

Don't you have to be good to demand a trade?

Get in line bro....who doesn't want to get out of the crap hole of a franchise?

Could always use him as a back up here in Green Bay. 3rd stringer safety percaustion. Who knows with a little help from Aaron he might be ok, sort of a reclaimation proj.

he would make a good career backup, for the rest of his career..i see him as a shaun hill type of quarterback..has all the tools, but is not starter material...

I'm sure Cleveland sucks, but if he had been drafted by any other team he wouldn't have made it out of training camp, because no other organization is as stupid as the Browns.

I think Weeden and the Browns are just about perfect for each other.

What does Weeden mean, he wants an opportunity to REVIVE his career elsewhere? It was dead on arrival once he got to Cleveland.

Good luck finding a job at the local car wash Brandon.

The feeling is mutual, Brandon. Good luck with your real estate career.

Is this guy in a position to make demands? He's part of the turmoil.

Exactly what has this guy done to think he can control his NFL future? He doesn't have a toe to stand on let alone a leg. Just take your paycheck, keep your mouth shut and count your blessings that you are even in the league.

Even the "Player to be Named Later" would be insulted if dealt for The Weed.

And vice versa. And fresh start? Isn't he already on the cusp of retirement?

Watched a lot of games last season and this guy was by far the worst QB I witnessed. Might be the worst QB to start a game in the last decade.

Let's see-- what can Cleveland get for a 31 year old terrible quarterback-- maybe a 7th rd pick in 2022?  Probably not even.

Brandon and everyone in the Cleveland area want him out of Cleveland too.

Okay, let me get this straight.  I guess it's because the team is going in the wrong direction correct?  I get it, I mean, who would want Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron as your go to weapons?  Those two along with perennial all pro tackle Joe Thomas and arguably one of the best centers in the game as well (Alex Mack.)  B Weeds, I get it, your decision making has NOTHING to do with it.  Wait, I think I just made my point.

I've got nothing against Weeden, good luck to him.  But he was such a Browns pick.  Drafting a 28 year old in the first round was just stupid.  Going back to Tim Couch the Browns have kept drafting first round QBs who then get thrown to the lions when their terrible offensive line practically gets the QB killed every week.  I'd rather that they wait and maybe get a couple of guys in later rounds and try to develop them, rather than see a number one as the franchise "savior", which clearly no one is capable of doing.

Start by building a good O-line and improve the defense, then work out from there.  It's going to take time, no matter what they do, but they need to do it right for once.

I'm sure new GM Ray Farmer is losing tons of sleep over this.

Between the Browns and the Cavs, I think the real story would be to find someone that doesn't want out of Cleveland.

@frankelee  I agree that he should never have been drafted in the first round.  That guy screamed 5th round material.

But I disagree about the stupidity of other organization.  The Redskins, Jaguars, Lions and, of course, Raiders and Cowboys, are easily as dumb.

@jshunk16

In his defense, Cleveland isn't known for their ability to develop QBs.

JoePickett

@x72  I think we've had worse starting QBs in brown's history, but he was fairly terrible. I am very very glad I will never have to watch him standing like a statue in the backfield again, only to throw the ball into the dirt at a wr's feet.

KristianColasacco

@x72 Not even close to the worst QB to start in the last decade.  Excellent use of hyperbole though.

@woody1290  They do have a decent O-line. If Hoyer is OK, they should get a good running back in the first round and some O-line help on the other side from Thomas. Pick a decent QB to back up Hoyer in the later rounds. Hoyer won 3 games until he got hurt with the current O-line. Richardson was the other bust they never should have drafted. He has been a bust at Indy..

I posted a couple of years ago that the front office should have been fired and were out of their minds wasting pick on the likes of Weeden and Richardson (also said it when they drafter Brady Quinn). Hopefully, Pettine is a coach who knows how to get a team motivated and play all 60 minutes. Unfortunately, it may be too late with the current roster unless the new coach is one who can re-energize and motivate.

JustinParisi

@woody1290 To be fair, Cleveland will probably just trade all those guys for draft picks anyway.

Haha! Wow! I didn't know cleveland had all of those great players.... and they're still horrible year after year after year? Hmm, maybe they aren't REALLY that great?

JoePickett

@AF Whigs  I agree. I bear no ill will to Weeden; the browns are a wreck. But he's a stiff and I'm glad he's gone.

WilliamCross

I just read in another post that claims the browns are loaded with stars on the o-line.

eddie767
eddie767

@WilliamCross  With no qb or real front office leaders, what did you really expect from them? For all the really good players they had, a real starting qb would've gotten them close to play offs, but not in. Weeden shouldn't be whinning, since who in their right mind would draft an "old man" in 1st rd?
