The Washington Wizards will most likely trade for a backup point guard, according to a tweet Tuesday from ESPN’s Marc Stein, and the player to fill that void behind All-Star John Wall could be disgruntled New York Knicks guard Beno Udrih.

According to Stein, the 31-year-old two-time NBA champion is high on Washington’s list of players it would like to land before the league’s Feb. 20 trade deadline. In January, it was reported that Udrih wanted out of New York, nearly six months after signing with the team as a free agent. Last August, after a year with the Orlando Magic, he signed a one-year deal with the Knicks for $1.27 million.

Beyond starting point guard John Wall, Washington’s roster only features one other true point guard, Eric Maynor.

In 31 appearances this season for New York, Udrih has averaged 5.6 points and 3.5 assists in 19 minutes per game.

One (reasonably) definite move you’ll see before trade deadline: Wiz trading for a new backup PG. Beno Udrih said to be high on Wiz list

OMG - it just him me. Coach Woodson hates Udrih because Udrih kept on yelling at him. Why would Udrih do that? It must be because Udrih played under Gregg Popovich and, so, knew that Woodson was being an idiot.
