Derek Jeter uncertain whether A-Rod will show up at spring training
Rodriguez, whose 162-game suspension is the most severe punishment in the history of baseball’s drug agreement, is allowed to attend spring training. The Yankees’ camp opens Feb. 14, with the full squad due to report to Tampa on Feb. 19.
But when asked if he thinks Rodriguez will attend, Jeter told the Associated Press, “I have no idea. You’d have to ask him.”
Rodriguez’s spokesman said when the arbitration decision was made that A-Rod planned to be with the team in Tampa.
The 39-year-old Jeter, who has sometimes not gotten along with Rodriguez, is the active hits leader with 3,316, while Rodriguez is second at 2,939. Rodriguez, 38, is the active home run leader at 654.
