Florida safety Cody Riggs to transfer
Florida safety Cody Riggs will transfer to another school when he graduates in the spring, according to Robbie Andreu of The Gainesville Sun.
Riggs is making the move to get a “fresh start” at a program where he will have more of a chance to play cornerback, an opportunity he will not have if he remains with the Gators, according to the report.
Head coach Will Muschamp confirmed the news on Wednesday, saying Riggs and his parents met with him to inform him of the decision, according to Andreu:
“Cody Riggs and his parents came to me and he’s going to finish up in May and transfer to another school to finish his last year of eligibility. He wanted a fresh start. And I appreciate his contributions to Florida.”
He started every game for Florida last year and 26 overall out of the 40 games in which he appeared as a Gator. He finished the season with 51 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He is on track to graduate in June and is eligible to play immediately.
