Braves, Freddie Freeman agree to eight-year deal
The Atlanta Braves and first baseman Freddie Freeman agreed to an eight-year, $135 million deal that will keep Freeman with the team through the 2021 season, the team announced Tuesday.
The team did not immediately disclose the financial details, but MLB Network’s Peter Gammons reported the figure at $135 million.
Over the past three seasons, Freeman has averaged 150 games played with 82 runs, 31 doubles, 22 home runs and 93 RBI.
Last season, Freeman hit .319 with 23 home runs, 109 RBI and 89 runs scored. He also had a .396 on-base percentage and .897 OPS. He hit .443 with runners in scoring position, which was second in the National League.
