Patriots quarterback Tom Brady came out on top of an ESPN poll that asked 320 NFL players who they would want in the huddle with two minutes remaining in the Super Bowl.

Brady topped Peyton Manning, who beat him for the right to go to this year’s Super Bowl. (The ESPN story doesn’t specify when the poll was conducted.)

Brady, a three-time Super Bowl champion, received 128 votes. Manning received 86.

As the report notes, during Brady’s 14-year career in the NFL, all with the Pats, the two-time NFL MVP has directed 41 winning drives in the fourth quarter.

New England players chimed in on Brady’s demeanor in pressure situations:

“He is a very calm guy when the game is on the line,” Patriots rookie receiver Kenbrell Thompkins said. “He just says, ‘We live for these moments. Let’s do it.’”

“He’s been there before and done it,” receiver Danny Amendola said. “You just kind of follow him as he takes the lead.”

“It just comes from his experience, 14 years, that control he has over pretty much anyone in the huddle. He just takes over,” tight end Michael Hoomanawanui added. “Obviously, the fact he’s done it time and time before helps out a lot, too. That’s pretty much the way he goes out and plays each and every snap…But when it comes down to those two-minute situations, he takes it to another level. That’s why he’s the man.”

clutch this season for real.  give him some good weapons that don't break like glass and see what happens.

@x72  broaden your horizon son. the reason they have not won the SB since the spygate has to do with personnel decision made by the organization/coaching staff more than spying. the players on defense and offense have been worse than the other teams winning the playoffs against them. this team has been better post spygate than pre although they haven't won the big game. as is it is really hard to win the big game for all that matters, if you are still stuck with spygate i feel sorry for your knowledge of sport

@x72 but always contending....... made the playoffs in 10 of the last 13 seasons, went to 8 conference championships, and went to the Superbowl 5 times. Not too shabby.
