New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony has repeatedly said he wants to stay in New York when free agency comes. But he has also said he’s interested in exploring his options this summer.

Although he is under contract through next season, Anthony can opt out of his deal after this season. If he stays with the Knicks, the team can offer him a maximum contract worth $129 million over five years. Other teams can offer him a four-year deal worth $96 million.

His wife, media personality La La Anthony, says she thinks he will “definitely” stay in the Big Apple.

“I definitely think he will stay [in New York]. I know that he wants to stay and I support him wherever he wants to go,” she said in an interview with Bravo TV’s “Watch What Happens Live, via ESPN.com. ” “Listen, I used to live in Denver with him. If I can live in Denver, I can live anywhere. I just want him to be happy.”

DOLLINGER: Knicks No. 20 in this week’s NBA Power Rankings

Anthony is having another outstanding season, averaging 27.2 points and a career-high nine rebounds per game for the Knicks (17-27).

“I get blamed for everything, no matter what happens it’s my fault,” she said. “[There are] all these talks if he’s staying in New York or not [and] I’m somehow the mastermind behind if he stays or not.”

Carmello will stay in New York because nobody else wants him. Guys who hog the ball and jack up off-balance shots all game are a dime a dozen, there's one on every playground. And that's where Carmello belongs, a 3-on-3 pickup game where he can shoot 40% and pretend to be a star.

What shes saying is Denver isnt ghettofabulous.... thats fine for everyone who lives here.  We are doing just fine with our beautiful mountains, low crime rate, thriving economy, the broncos, and 300 days of sunshine. Good Riddance Melo we always knew your wife wore the pants

The no talent Brooklyn ghetto rat speaks! Yeah, Denver sucks. For no talent ghetto rats. Hopefully the rest of the PR trash will take note and stay on the East Coast.

Anthony will go for the max dollars. It is likely he will stay in NYC at this point because no team with realistic chances at a title has the cap room to pay him $25 million per season - or would want to. I think the Knicks would be crazy to sign him, especially at those numbers. It is abundantly clear now that he is not a Superstar of the Durant, Kobe or LeBron level. The Knicks are 17 and 27 with a healthy Melo. The Nuggets got better when he left.

The Knicks should try and find a sucker willing to do a sign and trade - and failing that start the rebuilding process by telling Melo adios. There are no good players looking to come to NYC to play with him. And none there now. That equals five more years of, at best, 8th seed in the East.

who cares if he stay r not? melo became an unrelevant, second stringer 'star' with almost no market value. plus he is way 2 expensive 4 what he can offer. 2days game just scoring is not enough, and thx 2 his 1 and done college year nobody could taught him anything else. stay in ny, u belong 2 that 'team'

I guess any team looking for maybe the biggest gunner in the history of the league, who has no other basketball skills, but to put it up from anywhere on the court and is maybe the least team-oriented player in the NBA, will need to really convine Melo to leave.  I mean, it's not like you can'buy the guy."  Personally, I wouldn't want him.  No team will reach their full potential with him on the court.

You "think" he'll stay in New York?  I think you mean you have TOLD to him stay in New York.  Get serious!

Melo, do not go to Sochi wearing that shirt (and/or those glasses). Could get ugly.

Well, she's the one who's making the decision for him, right?  Just like she decided that he would leave Denver.  Tomorrow, she'll be deciding what underwear he's wearing.

My opinion:  His wife is ugly, leave her in NY and head to LA and find a better looking woman.

(*Melo thinks my wife is ugly, so we even)

Love those glasses though....very Steve Erkel-esque.

What Melo's wife wants....Melo's wife gets..hence the reason he wanted out of Denver in the first place.

@vroomfondel2014 while i agree that he is not a complete player, to say players like him are "a dime a dozen" is laughable. He is probably top-ten NBA offensive player.

Had the Knicks been smarter and patient, they could have had him without gutting their team; in a good team Melo would be a beast - wasn't he at Denver?

@Patokev- La La didn't exactly fit into the Denver media market or social life. Uneducated, pretentious, PR trash from Brooklyn, with a couple of D movie credits and an obscure, brief MTV gig, she expected to be the queen of the city. She wasn't. She hasn't had any success since returning to her native NYC either, her only "accomplishment" being starting a cosmetics line with Melo's money.

@TheDudeSpeaks Haha.. He always looks like he has no muscles, the weight he gained did not translate in more of that.. just being skinny fat.

@WilyCoyoteSuperGenius @Patokev  Ah, thanks for the reply. I was really surprised to read "If I can live in Denver, I can live anywhere." I thought, what happened to this woman there???
