Kevin Durant is playing better basketball than anyone in the world right now, but he said the best shooter in NBA history is a different superstar: Stephen Curry.

Responding to a question from a follower on Twitter about a hypothetical three-point contest between he and Curry, Durant said that Curry would win the contest “any day” and that the Warrior guard is the “best shooter to ever play” the game.

This season, Durant is averaging 31 points per game for the Thunder, while Curry is scoring 23.5 points per game. Ironically, Curry’s three-point shooting percentage is down to .383 this year from .453 last season.

Proves that Durant isn't too bright.

It says a lot that arguably the best shooter (Durant) thinks so highly of Curry who is only in his fourth season.  I also think he will be known as the best shooter in due time.

Consider Raymond Lewis of Cal State Los Angeles as best shooter ever. Ask Doug Collins or Michael Cooper if they ever played against a better shooter.

durant is doing a fine job deflecting the spot light away from himself during his own run on 30 pt games.... but durant please, curry might not even be a better shooter than his father.

Steph isn't the best shooter on his own team

KD you're dumb as a box of rocks. I suggest you do some research on your profession. Ummm Larry Bird.

Wow!  That is some serious praise and recognition for Steph!  Funny, but Lebron would probably second that, as he, too, thinks very highly of Curry's shooting skill.

Don't count Mark Price and Steve Kerr out here...

And all the draft experts said that he was to short and to fragile..

dell curry was not athletic... not a ball handler.... not a defensive specialist...... not a rebounder..... and still had a pretty long career cause he could shoot and ONLY shoot.

@x72Lol... Bird isn't even top 100 all-time in 3 pt percentage... Curry is top 5 and climbing, and has foot-speed and better passing. Bird isn't even in this conversation.

@x72 lol ...bird was overrated and we all know why...steph is clearly more accurate AND quicker with the jumper

@LABorn @x72 Bird had a 4 year span where he averaged 52%/42%/90%, very few people have ever done that for such an extended period of time. Absolutely one of the best shooters of all time, his career stats are skewed because he didn't start off his career as a three point shooter.  That said, I do think Curry - in addition to guys like Ray Allen, Nash, Reggie - is a better shooter, he's unbelievable (though Bird was a much better all-around player than those guys).  But to say Bird isn't even in this conversation is asinine.

@LABorn @x72 I think it was Pat Riley who said it best:  If I needed some to take a last shot to win a game, it'd be Reggie Miller.  If it was to win a championship, it'd be Michael Jordan.  To save my life:  Larry Bird.

@hubrob107 @x72 Larry Bird overrated?  Wow.  The internet (and the world) sure are full of people making comments they have NO clue about.  When you needed a shot to win the game EVERYONE in the building knew who was going to get the ball and the man still won the game time and time and time again.  Crawl back into your box and let the adults speak.
