Cleveland Cavaliers forward Luol Deng said that although he was traded from the Chicago Bulls earlier this season, he would be open to returning to the team this summer.

Deng spent his first eight-plus seasons with the Bulls and is averaging 17.6 points and 3.9 rebounds since joining the Cavaliers. He will be a free agent after the season.

‘‘I don’t know,’’ Deng said to the Chicago Sun-Times. ‘‘Maybe they’ll offer me three years, $30 million. That might be an option to take.’’

Deng reportedly rejected that same deal before the Bulls traded him away and said he will keep the Bulls in his mind when free agency rolls around.

‘‘I can’t say,’’ he said. ‘‘There’s no bad blood or anything. For me to sit here and say I’m taking Chicago out of the equation, that’s stupid. I was there for 10 years.’’

I am a big Bulls fan and I have liked Lu a lot since before we got DRose. He really blossomed under Thibbideau's defense-first system. It pains me to see him wearing that uniform. But basketball is a business now and he will almost certainly go to the highest bidder. I would love to see him back, but I knew before the trade he was probably a goner, sooner or later. Although I will say this, if anybody could make a decision that is not all about the money it is Luol Deng.

He also said he was open to signing with the Cavs.
