Report: Dwight Howard wants to play in 2016 Olympics
Dwight Howard intends to return to USA Basketball with plans to play in the 2014 World Cup of Basketball, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reports.
Howard’s return to the Team USA pool of players for the World Cup in Spain could lead to his playing at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil. Howard could be part of a USA front-court rotation that will likely include LaMarcus Aldridge, Kevin Durant and Kevin Love.
Howard, 28, won a gold medal in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing but has not since been involved with the national team. He also played for Team USA in the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship and the 2006 World Championships.
ESPN’s Marc Stein tweeted USA Basketball is expected to announce list of 25-30 names Thursday from which 12 will be selected to play in the World Cup tournament.
