San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree attempted to start a fight with Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman at a charity event last summer, reports Jerry Brewer of The Seattle Times.

The incident took place at an event hosted by Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald in August and attended by both players.

Sherman has been upset with Crabtree since last summer. Both attended Arizona star receiver Larry Fitzgerald’s charity event. While there, Sherman went to shake Crabtree’s hand, and Crabtree tried to start a fight, according to Sherman’s older brother, Branton.

“I’m going to make a play and embarrass him,” Richard Sherman vowed that day.

MMQB: Richard Sherman explains the Crabtree incident and postgame interview

Sherman turned heads with a passionate post-game interview last night in which he called out Crabtree shortly after making a game-saving deflection on a pass intended for the 49ers receiver.

Apparently minutes before the Erin Andrews interview, NFL mics pickup up a similar interview with Sherman & some Spanish speaking sports reporter....exact same BS rage.  Most of these players are acting like the WWE....over payed egos with a fake craft.

(Just because he supposedly had a 3.0 at Stanford doesn't make him a saint.) ????

Correction...

Sherman graduated from Stanford with a 3.9 GPA.  I have never heard of him being referred to as a saint, except by you. None of us were there at the Charity event, so any remarks are just hear say. Only Crabtree and Sherman know whats really going on.  I don't think a person should be judged directly after any sport. There is too much  adrenaline running through their veins. I understand that Football players have to get into a completely different mindset before a game and they need to unwind afterwards. They usually have a 15 min cool down period before they talk to media.  This is a perfect example of what can happen. They are both talented Football players.

Guys lets all act like adults here..... Sherman is only 25 same age as me.. yes we make mistakes at this age... we learn from it... and i dont think he needs anger management.... Good job Hawks cant wait to watch the super bowl over here in Montana.. GO HAWKS!!!!!

Sherman is all pump up during that interview. This type of player function on high level intensity. He should take a few minutes brake to level down his adrenaline before taking the interview.. But no one can deny it was one hell of a game and he did a hell of defense to save a touchdown.

There are many that have said Sherman was the one that intsagated the  argument at the charity event . And the reason Crabtree shoved him away after the game was because of remarks Sherman was making during the game THEN he came over and wanted to  shake hands. Crabtree doesn't have the loudmouth bully attitude that Sherman has and he(sherman) needs to go to anger management. Just because he supposedly had a 3.0 at Stanford doesn't make him a saint. And every one who knows anything about sports knows that colleges ( and even high school s) will give an athlete extra chances to make up a failing grade so they can keep playing.

This is certainly not a race issue. I have heard Sherman speak many times and seems intelligent. This was a  mistake on his part, big time. Apologize and move on like adults do. How on earth do you put this on Erin Andrews. I suppose if she didn't interview Sherman she'd be racist too? How stupid.

OK
OK

Look, half of America is up in arms because a non-white guy with dreadlocks (albeit from Stanford) yelled and screamed in response to a question from a Walking All-American White-As-Rice Barbie Doll on live national television moments after winning an NFL conference championship game.

Erin Andrews is Prime American Goddess. Richard Sherman is an Uppity Thug. Uppity Thugs do not yell a Prime America Goddesses.

Those are the shticks.

That's why people are wandering all around Dixie stringing up Richard Sherman in effigy. Sherman done (sic) yelled at their woman and that ain't (sic) right.

Well congrats on embarrassing Crabtree. Epic fail, as the only one Sherman embarrassed was himself. For someone who is supposedly intelligent and law abiding, he sure looked like an ignorant ghetto punk.

All Sherman did was tell the truth. "When you put a sorry receiver like Crabtree against me this is what happens". Kappernick should of looked for Boldin to live another down.. He went to Crab in the SuperBowl last year when it was on the line and you see what happened, same results no TD for SF.

He has a manipulative type of character about him that's annoying. He made a great play but he knew exactly what he was doing. Just the type of player he is.

I love how so many of you sit behind your computer, developing comments/responses to what Richard Sherman said in an immediate interview, when he was amped up after an amazing play.  I read your comments, which are just as cutting as anything he said.  So in my opinion, you guys need to reflect on how someone who made an amazing play, who was excited and all those other emotions coursing through his body, and was then pulled into an immediate interview....at least he didn't have a chance to check him mouth, however, you folks do and haven't....so -- there you have it in a nutshell.

It will be funny hearing Sherman LOUDLY BOOED for the rest of his career whenever he plays an away game.  He hardly embarrassed Crabtree...he made a great play - thats all.   And I think the majority of people against this joker (myself included) is because of his antics running up and taunting Crabtree.  Sherman says "don't judge a book by its cover."  We are NOT...we are judging you by your immature and self absorbed ACTIONS!!!!   They say he is smart.....I haven't seen a sliver of proof to this.....

very funny, since people dont like the disgracful thuggish antics of someone, that it must be racist

x72 . . . Gadfly or Dungbeetle?  . . . Here to swarm and bother people with questions meant to extract intellectual debate and free flowing ideas through the Socratic method? Or just pushing around a pile of b-s looking for another dungbeetle to help make the pile bigger?

Great student at Stanford, just like D Rose at Memphis.

I suppose those who would call Sherman a thug, disgrace, etc have all graduated Stanford 3.9gpa or better, started a charity, & are top 10 in their field.

There are obvious racists among us and then there are what I call the"Woodwork Racists". They come out whenever they get 1/2 a chance. They hide behind a keyboard or phone line. So sad to see so many deluded, demented, & hateful citizens. God does not like ugly Matt 5:21-24, 7:1-5. Face it we always like it better if it is "our guy" doing the show! Plus, that interview has catapulted Erin's career nationwide. Go Girl!

@somehistorian  sherman made $585,000 this year, when you come from where he did and do what he does, I think you have a right to celebrate. I have a feeling you never played football or studied the history of these teams or players. Sherman graduated with a 3.90 from stanford and switched positions late in his college career. he is not the pretty boy that crabtree is. he faced much more of a challenge growing up and his family stuck by him and taught him well. imagine a little boy in the inner city dreaming of playing in a super bowl and actually getting there. I give him a pass...he more than deserves it.

@MerleDickey  so what you are ACTUALLY doing here... is looking for a reason to hate the man. Shut the hell up.

@MicheleParkins   He has a history of doing such things as this. I don't think folks are trying to take away that he is a good athlete .It doesn't matter that he is black , so is Wilson and he doesn't act this way . He needs anger management.

GregJackson

@NickGarrison Does a degree from Stanford qualify as proof?  Sherman didn't just attend Stanford, he graduated and even started his Masters degree.

Charles58
Charles58

@NickGarrison Sherman is spot on, Crabtree is a mediocre receiver. He is not fast, has trouble getting separation, and doesn't perform in the clutch. When he first came to the Whiners he cared more about his shoe collection than about football. He is sub par all the way.

MerleDickey
MerleDickey

@x72 Great is stretching it a bit. He needs anger management before it ruins his career.

MerleDickey
MerleDickey

@Y-AntoinetteEchols So what, he still has no manners and needs to learn to control himself.  Leave it on the field. How would you like some big  sports figure yelling in the microphone and spraying spittle on you?  No one else on the  team acted that way.

MerleDickey
MerleDickey

@Y-AntoinetteEchols Now if he would learn to keep his big mouth shut. This isn't the first time he blown off about someone. So he just looks and acts like a thug even tho he has a degree and is high in the ratings. Act like  an adult instead of a punk

MerleDickey
MerleDickey

@Y-AntoinetteEchols  Where is the race part, I don't care what race he is. there are other  members on the team of different races. Big deal , it is his actions just wanting to make a show . The quarterback is  a mixed race I think . and he certainly knows how to act like a gentleman.

cmsmith929
cmsmith929

@x72 Really? That seems a bit extreme . . . Let's forgo mentioning oh, um, say . . . Hitler? Kim Jong Il? The Hutus who slaughtered hundreds of thousands of their fellow countrymen? Mothers and fathers who kill their own children for reason unknown? The perpetrators of sexual/physical/mental abuse? Gang members who provide an unpredictably dangerous way of life to America's youth? Those top 85 people who hold the same amount of wealth as the bottom 50% of the world's population?

Yea, totally, Sherman is a disgrace to human existence. I can't even try and roll my eyes enough to express my disdain for this statement. Extremist arguments that hinge upon absolutist points are easily disregarded.  When I think about disgraces to human existence, focusing on one single football player who participates in a game that only matters to the sporting world within America seems a bit ludicrous.

Someone should probably let Richard Sherman know that he is an embarrassment to all of humanity, since according to Mr.x72, that is who he represents . . .

NickGarrison

@cmsmith929@x72He is pretty damn embarrassing....and CMS...I can't even understand 1 point you are attempting to make.  Guy was a jerk...pretty simple.

and let me go on a limb here...MAYBE, JUST MAYBE he was speaking in exaggeration to make a point....sorry that hyperbole escapes you...
