The Washington Redskins’ defensive coordinator Jim Haslett was officially retained by the team on Friday.

The team reportedly denied a request from the New York Jets to interview Haslett, according to Chris Russell of ESPN 980. At least one other team also requested to speak with Haslett.

Instead, the Jets are reportedly sticking with defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman for now, according to Rich Cimini of ESPN.com. Cimini reported that Thurman is likely to return for 2014, marking his second season as the team’s defensive coordinator. The Jets will end up keeping several assistant coaches, including assistant head coach/running backs coach Anthony Lynn and defensive line coach Karl Dunbar.
