Tom Brady on legalized pot in Denver: ‘It’s a business trip’
Patriots fans in Denver for the AFC Championship Game may be relishing the chance to legally buy marijuana for recreational use.
But don’t expect Tom Brady to be doing the same.
The Patriots quarterback mostly joked with a reporter who asked him about visiting a city where recreational marijuana was legal during his Friday press conference. Here is the conversation, relayed by Pro Football Talk.
Q: This is the first time you’ll be visiting an NFL city where recreational marijuana use is legal.
TB: Are you excited about that?
Q: Has anyone advised the young players against it?
TB: We haven’t talked about that. Maybe you guys [can] tell me what that’s all about.
Q: I was just wondering if it would be a temptation.
TB: Hopefully not. This is a very important game for us and it’s a business trip.
Though recreational marijuana may be legal in Denver, it is still banned by the NFL — a point head coach Bill Belichick hit on when he was asked the same question.
Said Belichick: “I think we know what the NFL policy is on that.”
