The Seattle Seahawks have announced they will not be selling tickets for next Sunday’s NFC championship game to those with a California address.

Shortly after their divisional round win over the Carolina Panthers, the team announced on their website that tickets would be available for purchase on Monday for fans, but would only be available to those with billing addresses in Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Alaska or Hawaii, as well as the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.

The move is intended to prevent ticket scalping, and also to discourage fans of the opposing San Francisco 49ers from attending the game at Seattle’s CenturyLink Field, according to SFGate.com

You know what, it's dumb things like that which help give more motivation to the niners. I guess the Seahawks are afraid of a few niners fans rooting for their team? Wow. I hope the Niners kick their butt and embarrass them and their prissy ways.

That's so totally CS!!!!!!! Niners fans have a RIGHT to see their team play live. Wow, totally, totally CS!!!

It's amazing how the NFL is allowing this ridiculous act. Nothing is done in the actions of snubbing the sea hawks or their fans when their traveling to be the away team. Their fans are allowed to travel to watch their team in person with no problems!!!! The NFL should stop this injunction !!!!!! N im not even a 4G erstwhile fan !!!!!!!

It's a stupid thing to do.  If you cant win without a 100 percent home crowd roaring, you must not be that good in the first place.  We will see, I guess.

Don't care about the SH not selling tickets to us.  They need all the support that they can get.  They have their 12th man, and we have ours:  Jim Harbaugh.  Go Niners.  I can only imagine what the place will be like if we win.  SH fans don't think that is not possible.  Anything is possible!  This will be a good game.

Who has it better than us?  NOBODY!  GO 49ers!

There's no reason why the Seahawks SHOULD sell tix to 49er fans... This is our house.. not theirs.

Some of these comments are just sickening. You hope for someone to get paralyzed? It's just a game at the end of the day. Grow up. Also, every team does this. Denver is limited their ticket sales. I see more rude comments from niner fans than hawks fans yet the media portrays it the same way. At least the seahawks don't have to send out an email blast to their fans telling them when and how to cheer. Desperate much?

Its   true Denver is doing the same but sucks for me who traveled to Candlestick, wore my Hawks gear and do so everyday and I live in Cali and hear nothing but crap for it.  I fly my 12th man flag proudly and my car is covered with Seahawk decals and I cant buy a ticket unless its over $300.  This move is going to cause harm to any Niner fan who shows cuz they will be spread out like I was On Dec. 8th.  I  got punched by a girl half my age for supporting the wrong team she  said and I AM DISABLED>  I am having brain surgery on the 29th and a second one on the 5th and this might be my lastchance to watch my beloved Seahawks.  Kinda sucks is all!

Well, hopefully some Canadians will come down and cheer for the 9ers.

The Media is just trying to make the Hawks look bad..  this is NOT new! It happens every year, not just Seattle! Get your stories straight!

The Denver Broncos will limit ticket sales for the AFC Championship game at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium, making it more difficult for New England Patriots fans to buy tickets for the game.

The Broncos announced that a limited number of tickets would go on sale Monday at noon Eastern time. Those tickets will be available to residents of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska, Montana, South Dakota, and Western Kansas with prices ranging from $90 to $300 for reserved seats and $300 to $600 for club seats.

"It’s our normal procedure for playoff games," said Patrick Smythe, the Broncos' executive director for media relations.

More than 96 percent of season ticket holders elected to purchase playoff tickets, Smythe said, which limited the availability of game tickets to begin with.

There are roughly 62,000 season tickets holders for a 68,000 seating stadium. Talk about dedication! The season tickets holders can still buy their seats for the game and i saw where they said that most WILL buy them. Ugh.. so over the whining about it just being the Seahawks..

This has to be one of the most unprofessionally written articles I have ever seen. You say that they refuse to sell tickets to California, and yet you neglected to mention the other forty-four states that will not be able to purchase directly as well. You also neglected to mention that in a stadium that seats only 68,000 fans, they have continually sold, and have a waiting list a mile long, the allowed 65,000 season ticket holder seats, thus only allowing for a few thousand tickets to even be available. The first playoff game against the Saints sold out in minutes. MINUTES! For those that live in the area that the team is representing, the Pacific Northwest and beyond, the closest team being California based, this is a THANK YOU to the fans from the organization and gives a few thousand people that typically would never get the chance to see their favorite team play. Will they sell out in minutes? Yes, that’s a given. Sale goes live at 10:00 and they will be sold out by 10:01. It’s impressive, annoying for those that would love to go to a game, but it is what it is. It has nothing to do with the organization trying to keep 49er fans out. Hell, there are many, many 12th Man Clubs in California that are being shut out, as well as other states, but you don’t hear them bashing and badmouthing a team that has beat the small market odds and are playing great football.

Also, the Seahawks are one of the few teams in the NFL that are even better off of the field then they are on. They dedicate so much time, money and energy to local charities and non-profit organizations that it’s tear inducing. The Mouth, Richard Sherman, that so many in these comments have bad mouthed and said you hope he gets paralyzed, that’s low. For Christmas do you know what he did? Instead of kicking back in his modest townhome with his family, he went out and brought gifts and hugs to terminally ill fans and families that couldn’t afford gifts for their children. Russell Wilson spends a full day once a week at the Seattle Children’s Hospital with his wife going around and meeting children and fans. No one has asked him to do it, he simply does it because he’s a great man with a great heart. Tell me, how many other quarterbacks would stick around in pads, sore and beaten after playing a game what he got his butt handed to him in, simply so he can throw passes to a terminally ill child for hours after the stadium emptied? None. And yet Wilson has more than once. There are so many organization and charities that the Seahawk players have created and support, bankroll and dedicate their limited free time to, and yet they don’t boast or brag about it, they don’t call the media and ask them to cover the story, and they don’t flaunt their philanthropy because they aren’t boastful. They are good guys, plain and simple, and excellent football players.

Pathetic. Any team that doesn't welcome a good 'ol rivalry games with opposing fan bases shouldn't host a playoff game.  ANY team so it doesn't matter that other teams have done it in the past. Bush league tactic shouldn't be allowed in the pro's.

Denver is doing the same thing and this is nothing new as other teams have done this in the past.

Although it's annoying to California residents who want to attend the game, it won't shut out all Cali-based Seahawks or 49er fans from attending. The secondary ticket market is so robust, fans will have opportunities to buy tickets - unfortunately at a higher price. Right now, the cheaper NFC Championship game tickets are around $500 a piece according to http://tickget.com/nfl-playoffs/

Why are we worried 9ers got this

As look at the seabirds easy 2013

Schedule only played 3 good teams

And lost 2 of them so fans know

They need the 12th man other wise no

Chance. healthy 9ers vs doped up sea birds

Go 49ers

@JasonAllen Denver did the same thing, limited tix to Rocky Mountain states. There's nothing stopping a Vaginer fan from buying tix on the secondary market.

@MajestyRider just another way to have more advantage huh? that crap isn't enough tho.. too bad we couldn't play on neutral ground cuz surely Niners would beat the brakes off your seacheats lol..

@Steve86 you could only hope... The Seahawks have a really strong fan base in BC especially Vancouver.

@Geeks-On-Ink Thanks for hopefully putting a damper on the sensationalism that such a suck story generates.  I sure wouldn't wear a Niner's jersey anywhere near that stadium parking lot or inside.  That poor EMT who got his head smashed in by Dodger fans a couple of years ago and those who got shot after games last year will attest to how worked up and crazed "hometown fans" can get.  Stupid.

@Geeks-On-Ink Thanks for the clarification. We only hear what the media wants us to hear, so thanks for setting the record straight…makes sense to me. Hope it's a great, clean game. Signed, a 49ers fan

@HerschelAnderton You need to grow up and get some compassion for human life.  He has a family and people that love him. He spends time helping terminally ill people and those that do not have much.  Learn about him as a person and use your brain. I HATE the whiners, but would NEVER wish any kind of life threatening or life altering injury on any of them.  I'm sure as individuals with families and friends most of the players are good people.  Would you like others to wish ill on you or the ones you love?

@HerschelAnderton That is pretty sure to come off wrong... As a niners fan, I just hope that Sherman will be burned several times by Boldin or Crabtree - and he probably will

Steve86
Steve86

@HerschelAnderton Seriously? How could that NOT come off wrong??? I'm a 9ers' fan but I wouldn't wish that upon anyone! Have some class dude…it's just a game at the end of the day.

Geeks-On-Ink
Geeks-On-Ink

@HerschelAnderton Doesn't come off wrong? You think it MIGHT?! WTF

Because he runs his mouth, like so many others do, and yet does it on a whole higher level of eloquence since he has a degree in communications from an Ivy League school, thus making it an art form, you would wish something so terrible to happen to him? That's beyond low class. The Mouth is an amazing player, has a talent that any team but the 49ers would love to have, and he is an amazing man off of the field with a handful or non-profit organizations that he heads and funds from his own pocket. The man might rub you the wrong way because he's breaking up plays and making interceptions left and right, but there is a line not to cross and you crossed it and then some. Low class.

A really pathetic comment. This is a man's livelihood. How woild you feel if someone hoped a loved one of yours would become paralyzed? Really sick.
